I vote board games. Talisman, Cosmic Encounter, and Zombies!!! are my favorites.

ZOMBIES!!! This game is awesome! I love it so much. If you like zombies and/or boardgames, there's a good chance you'll like this. Especially when everybody's turning on each other to try and survive.

Illuminati. Best card game out there. Easy to learn, games can be long or slow to your liking. Best time killer.

If you're looking for another game, just have a second type of game ready. If you're playing 3e normally, I'd recommend cthulu or d20 modern. When you start a second dnd group, sometimes it mucks up the original game, and that isn't the intention.
