Ideas for political based adventure

Torment

First Post
So, right now, I am in the middle of an unexpected turn in my campaign. The PC went somewhere I didn't expect them to go for months. I guess I overestimated their greed, haha!

But yeah, right now, I am writing some political drama. Basicly dude B killed his father, brother A got framed for it, and now dude B is in power. BroA is a NPC that the PCs are on a ship with. So basicly, i am looking for some ideas for different political groups that would have an interests in having broB stay in power and some A that would be able to help brother A reclaim his throne. Currently, broA is hiding with the PC. PC have been invited to a banquet because broB is rather desperate for some allies and PCs are representing another nearby nation.

I have some pretty solid ideas of my own, but ENworld really has some creative minds, so I figured I'd see what you wonderful people can come up with.

A few bits of info:

- Locale is some island, somewhat isolated
- Newly discovered silver mine in the moutains on the island
- Ancient greek in flavor
- a few rebels are hiding in the mountains...

Hmmm, well without having the flavor of your world this could be a little difficult but here goes:

Those few rebels living in the moutains are actually a large band of loyalists, to Brother A. Let's say when all this went down, 1/3 of the army jumped ship and took up camp in the mountains and woods. While in those mountains and woods they have hooked up with the local elves and centaurs. So there is one faction of Brother As supporters. On top of this the father had signed a treaty with the Dwarves offering them exclusive mining rights to the silver for 30% of gross take. Brother B is not honoring this treaty and has told the dwarves they need to pay 60% of gross take. There is a second faction to stand behind brother A.

Okay so onto brother B

If the son pulled off killing the father he had help of somekind. Maybe the local theives guild. So now Brother B has to place some key members of the guild into powerful political positions to uphold his end of the bargain. This is faction A supporting the interloper. On top of that, Brother B offers pirates refuge within the city for a small fee. So there's faction B for brother B.

You could go 100s of ways with this, I love political intrigue games.
