Yeah, I know, being a realist is a double-edged sword these days :p

Actually I would really enjoy a Tome of Magic II if it didn't rely on new base classes to truly make the best of the new magic subsystem. You got me there. :)

See?! That's what I'd like to see in the new book too. New subsystems, not new bases classes. :)

Aaron,

Uhm actually we already have Ritual Magic. It's in a book titled *gasp* Relics and Rituals I! :) Plus the fact even with the mechanic changes, it still works. :)

I have feeling that much of the D&D fan base wants to stay far away from Chronomancy for a while.
First, I do not consider myself part of your theoretical chronomancy-hating fan base. I'd love to see a (well-conceived) chronomancy class. (I'm not saying that with hostility, please don't mis-interpret, just MNSHO.)

Second, what's the basis for your opinion that the fan base wants to stay far away from chronomancy?

Rune Magic...
Tattoo Magic...
Ley Lines...
Power Nexus...
Blood Magic...
Shamanism...

And somewhere, Kerrick is sitting with all of this stuff (along with some beautiful gemstone magic and a handful of other things). Kerrick, what happened to the Mystic/Arcane Strife combo project!?

My gods, man. The people want magic.

Maybe I'm being pedantic here, but he didn't say that the whole fan base wants to avoid it, only that a portion does.

Oh yeah, spell trees or threads or whatever, where you learn spells in clusters, in order, or whatever. There were 2 great Dragon articles with this a few/many years ago.

Technomancy would be cool, for sure. I'd also like to see something more horrifically inclined- something dealing with reality manipulation and/or nightmares (tie in with the Far Realm?)

What I really want to see, though, is some kind of magic-hacker. Basically, someone who manipulates the magic and spell-like abilities of others. New ways to utilize Metamagic feats (he could be the feat monkey equivalent of the fighter, but for magic-users). The Incantatrix from PGtF is close, but doesn't quite go far enough for my tastes.
