I have noticed that, whenever I walk away from the computer for a few minutes, or any time I close the browser window or navigate to a different page, all of the currently unread threads will be marked read.

I have this problem with other message boards using similar software. And it really bothers me, because it confuses which threads I have read with ones I haven't, and I miss out on threads I would have liked to read.

Is there some possible solution to this problem I have overlooked?

edit: It also seems to do this randomly when I am reading, as it did this last time.

The messageboard behavior tries to just keep track of which messages are new since you last visited. Once you haven't had any activity for 15 minutes, it assumes that you closed your browser, or were disconnected or something. This may be configurable across the board.

So, the trick is to not idle for more than 15 minutes. If you refresh to the top of a forum in a browser window every 10-15 minutes, then it doesn't think you have logged out.

Personally, I think 15 minutes is too short a time. On occasion, I have spent longer than that writing posts, especially if they include tables or I have to look up a lot of stuff when writing.
