I've always thought that it stood for In Effect, which would indeed make it similar to "for example." But that's just me. :cool:

Ah, then you never bothered to read the glossary in your 1e DMG! Gary was good enough to define those abbreviations for baffled young readers such as myself.

Seriously though, ie and eg are just like totally unused by me.
