If anyone is doing a Hurricane Katrinia relief project let me know.

I'd start this one up myself, but I don't have the artistic or layout skills to pull it off.

I'm starting work on writing up something for such a project. I'll make a hard commitment to 1,000 words (Phil, no laughing, I got a day job dude).

The Federal Emergency Management Agency reccomends the following charities
http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=18473

I would reccomend something from this list (so that the money can get to the victims of Katrinia), but one of them that also did work beyond US borders (so our friends in other nations won't feel like they're being snubbed). If nothing meets those criteria than I'd suggest the American Red Cross, since they at least have some connection to international organizations.

Thanks.

Perhaps it would be best to wait a couple weeks, to see how things settle down. Don't want to jump the gun, but by all means lets talk about it.

I wonder how long it will be before we see a Katrina benefit concert from the music folk...

I have some short psionic articles I was getting ready to self-publish. I'm thinking the first 1 or 2 will now be hurricane relief. I'm hoping to get the first one polished up this weekend. I suppose if anyone wants to lend a hand with those, they can contact me directly (ken - kmarable - com). They are just short 6000 word PDFs and the start of a monthly series. Mostly, I was already planning on releasing them, and figured I could release the first 1 or 2 as charity, so I don't really expect anyone to get jazzed about helping with them.

However, I think a chairty product of more general appeal would be a great idea. I'd also lend a hand in that as well. I can do some writing, and even help with coordinating too, if necessary.

Any thoughts on what such a project should be? I imagine something relatively short (unless we got a lot of writers) that could be compiled rather quickly. Crunch on some topic? Collection of encounters/side treks? Detailed village?

BiggusGeekus, what topic would you get you excited enough that you couldn't stop yourself from writing 1500 words? (Not to be pushy, though) ;)

And is anyone else willing to lend some writing time and/or art to some sort of unspecified charity project?

I don't think it's necessary to wait and see what the rest of the US and world might or might not do to help the Katrina victims. It's pretty bad over there, lots of folks have lost their homes and businesses, college students are out of luck and are being sent home, kids have lost all their toys, families' can't go the bank and take money out to pay for the hotel they'll be living in for the next 6 months cause the atm is UNDER WATER.

And, for those of us *points to self* who don't have a lot of extra cash lying around, the best option just might be to do a charity pdf. It won't change the world but it might raise some cash to brighten someone's dark day.

I'll put out an open call on a new thread. Anyone reading things here: send ideas to siretokkor@yahoo.com.

I think humorous rpg-related items would be good, because silliness sells, but I'll make an official poll on the other thread.

I said I'd commit to that, not what I'd submit. If I end up writing the great d20 epic saga that makes Ptolus look like a footnote, then that's what I'll do. I would just prefer to promise something that I can deliver.
