Played 4e for a year and a half (started out good then the game got toxic) then we dropped it then went to Pathfinder since it was an updated version of 3.5e.

Honestly Id rather be playing 1e but that is not going to happen as our regular game so we play PF.

I have purchased 3 hardcovers for PF, which is two more than I bought of 4e. I did buy every single hardcover (and most soft) that wizard put out from 2000 up until about the Book of Nine Swords. This is the theme for most in my group except 1 player who bought a bunch of 4e stuff.

Thanks for the great participation so far! I apologize to those unsatisfied with the way I built the poll, it is on purpose that way, sorry.
Even if you're creating a poll to win an argument or make a decision, consciously not making it as accurate as possible means that the information you get out of it won't be as useful as you want it to be, since some people will either not participate at all, or will grab something that's "close enough" in their minds. You're increasing the margin of error by an unpredictable amount.

EDIT: Obviously, it's your poll, and I don't mean to suggest otherwise, but your argument doesn't make logical sense to me. I would have at least activated the ability for people to have chosen more than one answer, which certainly seems like it would have gotten a lot of use and been more reflective of how most groups have gone. (My group is both 3.5 and Other and may be Pathfinder as well, in the near future, for instance.)

Well, I did underestimate the number of people that actually play more than one of the games of interest in the poll, as well as plenty of other stuff!

If the poll had any pretense of statistical validity, I'd be at GenCon with a clipboard in hand tapping 1,300 people on the shoulder and asking them point-blank what they are playing. :)

FWIW, the poll is neither to win an argument nor make a decision. It is out of interest to know what similar groups have been experiencing, nothing more or less. I'll stick to my guns, and say it's PAI (Poll As Intended). :D

We can definitely see that the player base is not as homogeneous as before the advent of 4e: more older editions, more different games, and from your comments more multi-game groups.

I would like to thank all those who participated!
