I DM 3.5 and don't have any problems.
Neither I nor my players have ever had a problem with grapple.

I never had a problem with DOS either, but it doesn't mean that Windows isn't easier to use, prettier and more productive...just sayin'.

My players LIKE that NPCs use the same rules as PCs.

As a DM, I did too. However, that doesn't mean that the New Way isn't just as good (better, IMO).

I didn't spontaneously morph a minion into a "real" NPC b/c my BBEG died and he lived. I turned the unexpected result into a story that fueled my game.

Well, these days in the part of the USA that I live in, tomatoes are under a warning from the FDA, so I think I'll just stick with v3.5 instead of taking my chances with some strange fruit.

I have a theory that a lot of the people (not all) resistant to 4th Ed are players, who are bummed out that they might no be able to get away with their campaign/encounter ruining shenanigans they have enjoyed all these years.

There is a choice image macro I could use as a reply here, but Rel would spank me.

Anyways, jot me down as failed test case #1 for your theory. I almost never play 3.5, DM it almost exclusively, and have no interest in 4e because I consider it inadequate for my purposes in ways related to DMing.

just a point, as I see so many folk who complain about 4th ed, are only *players*, not DMs.

I preffer 4th ed, play whatever version you like, no worries to me
But, do not moan and complain without realizing how unpleasant DMing in 3.5 was for many folk! Jeesh.

Sorry mate, but this rant is likely to do nothing but stir up ill-feeling. Why take a pot shot at people who prefer a different system to you? Doesn't make sense.
