D&D 5E If you use a +1 magic weapon with steel wind strike do you get a +1 bonus to the attack and damage roll?

I agree. I'd rather have just a standard melee attack with say 4d10 extra force damage or so.
That would be a lot weaker for two reasons.

First Steel Wind Strike can affect 5 creatures, second it uses your spell attack which on a character with 5th level spells is usually going to be higher than your weapon attack modifier (even moreso if you are not proficient in the weapon).

This is one of the main issues with the blade cantrips; in tier 2+ they hit far less than most other attack cantrips. This is countered by the fact they do more damage than attack cantrips.

The attack is with the spell; the weapon simply acts as a conduit for it (technically, it isn't even a focus--it's a material component.)

However, if you have a magic item that grants a generic bonus to spell attacks, such as a +1 arcane grimoire, then you would add its bonus to the attack rolls made with steel wind strike.

Depends. A properly made Gish won't have that problem.

Unless they are a Wizard or tier 5 Ranger, they are not going to get Steel Wind Strike as a Gish.

Even on these there is a choice to be made on buffing dex vs their casting stat and that is before you take Constitution into consideration.

It's also a "flavor fail" because while this spell is very clearly intended to give someone that "gish feeling" of melding sword and blade...

... your swordsmanship makes no difference at all. A bladedancer or a college of sword bard will do no better than some old wizard with a stick he payed some kid 1 sp to make for him. (the part about ending near an enemy is not great for the old wizard, but that's after the spell...)
Well, or course. If they were actual weapon attacks, then that would let a level 17 ranger be better at class feature involving moving and hitting things than a level 9 wizard is.

College of sword bard can get it with magical secrets, why I made of point of mentioning it in my OP

(and college of sword bard with a one-level dip in hexblade is one heck of a gish)

Everyone here keeps saying no, but I actually disagree. I believe if you fire magic stone from a +2 sling, it ignores the 1d4 of the sling but keeps the +2 since it was an attack roll made using the sling. In the same way, steel wind strike  uses the sword as a material component in the spell and as part of the casting. I'd say it ignores the dice roll of the sword but keeps the magic bonus. I know I'm late to this but you're literally funneling the magical attacks through the sword, logically it only makes sense you keep the magic bonus imo.
