If you were to make a core d20 system . . .

I'm thinking right now to use Mutants & Masterminds 2, Spycraft 2, a bit of True 20, a bit of Hot Pursuit, and a revision of Mythic Earth.

Sadly, I only own Mythic Earth and True 20, and can't afford the other 3. I just know I like the powers of M&M, and Spycraft 2 has been hyped a lot by folks hereabouts.

Combat system that allows dodges and parries as opposed to a roll against a static AC/DV etc.. allowing for a more opposed combat system. conans system is good in this regard and the special moves are an appealing idea too.
I agree - this kind of thing would go well with some of the other rules choices. The previous list was not exhaustive (it was written at work, from memory - as this is :\).

So would the rest, actually.

Manoeuvres and/or stunts (from at least a couple of potential sources) could help facilitate parts of that - or something like them, anyway.

Ideally, I would favour (nearly) complete deconstruction of the d20 system, followed by a reconstruction unrestricted by ties to anything that's gone before. Not to say lessons couldn't be learned from other versions of 'd20', just that none of them should have any sort of unnecessary sway over the new creation.

One of these days, I might have a go at it. If I can find the time and other resources, that is. Then there'd be all the legalese, etc. Blech. :\

Experience Point Buy. Get away from all that time wasted on wacky multi-classing to get to your favorite PrC as fast as you can, and forget having weaknesses and strengths forced on you if you don't multi-class.

Crazy, those leveling systems, crazy.

True 20 is great, but it ain't the end all and be all of d20 game design.

Errrr... Well, to be honest, True20 IS the end all be all of d20 game design for me! ;)

EDIT: House-modified to run Star Wars, that is.

I'd take 3.5 and do the following:
Remove all the grid-based combat rules and feats, and make combat more like 1e or 2e.
Get rid of prestige classes.
Have saves based on all 5 stats (kinda like Castles and Crusades) [I initially didn't like this idea, but it's grown on me]
Make the monster manual more like the 2e manual. One monster per page, with lots more ecology, etc. info.

That's about it.

Uh, I'm just wondering. . . do you mean "all 6", or is this code for something else that I'm not aware of?

I'm not trying to be picky, I honestly have no idea what you meant.
