Ignoring Flankers?

The way I actually solve this IMC is:

1/ You cannot ignore flankers.
2/ You are considered flanked by a foe if he can perceive the foe on your other flank. (So, a pair of Invisible Rogues who couldn't see invisible couldn't flank you, even if you could see both of them. If you had an invisible Rogue on one side and a visible Fighter on the other side, the Rogue would be Flanking you, and the Fighter would not.)

... since IMHO Flanking comes from your foes coordinating their attacks.

PS: But wrt/ the "close your eyes" mechanic, I think having a 50% miss chance makes up for your +2 AC.

Except that flanking or not doesn't make a difference, because being invisible means your opponents loose their dex bonus to AC anyways. I think.

But normally, flankers get an extra +2 to hit. Anyway... it's easiest & best to just say (loudly), "No, you cannot ignore the guy with the weapon trying to stab you."

Or proving by stabbing them repeatedly with a pencil, and see if they can ignore it. :)
 

Due to self-preservation instincts, I would only allow a character to ignore someone using these house rules if that person deal ZERO damage to the character for at least one full round of combat. Because, really, even a squirrel attacking from behind and landing a good bite will be enough to distract just about anyone, even someone trained for combat...

You forgot about the +2 flanking bonus to hit. +2 to hit is a very significant bonus.

Also, uncanny dodge will completely protect you from losing your dex bonus from AC when fighting invisible opponents, but a higher level rogue can still sneak attack you when flanking. I think a house rule that says it might sometimes be a good idea to blindfold yourself when fighting high level rogues is a poor house rule - even if those rogues are already invisible.
