The way I actually solve this IMC is:
1/ You cannot ignore flankers.
2/ You are considered flanked by a foe if he can perceive the foe on your other flank. (So, a pair of Invisible Rogues who couldn't see invisible couldn't flank you, even if you could see both of them. If you had an invisible Rogue on one side and a visible Fighter on the other side, the Rogue would be Flanking you, and the Fighter would not.)
... since IMHO Flanking comes from your foes coordinating their attacks.

PS: But wrt/ the "close your eyes" mechanic, I think having a 50% miss chance makes up for your +2 AC.
