A good fellow brought me a bottle of 16-year old Glenlivet recently. Sadly it is nearly gone now, but a tup or two on an evening helps take the winter's chill off

Ugh...please...no booze talk. Last night, we celebrated m'birthday a couple weeks late and I really tied one on and I now have a late hangover.

Booze? A fine single malt is certainly not "booze" that one would use to tie one on. You're thinking of Southern Comfort. Now *that* is booze. (Although I still wouldn't tie one on with Southern Comfort -- yuck.)

I nearly over-imbibed to lift my spirits over the Bears' dreadful performance in the Superbowl, but being an experienced drinker I quit after two bottles of ale.

I am too lazy to go hunt up the cylindrical box in which the Glenlivet Scotch resides, so I can not comment on any sub-appelation it has. I can say that it is most palatable--for my taste after being opened by the addition of a bit of water.

BTW, this is my first 16-year old, usually I settle for the eight- or 12-year old.

My favorite sort of Scotch is a pale, peaty single-malt that is at least eight years old.

What's wrong with biscuits and gravy; or fried eggs, sausage, and grits and butter; or some Swiss roesti potatoes with fried eggs? Them's just for openers. Crepes with plenty of butter and bacon are also tasty, as are waffles.

Nothing in the world. I was going with a theme (guinness, cider, etc. ). As one suthun' gen'lman to anutha, sih, I declare biscuits and gravy, eggs and grits and sausage and bacon are from God's own kitchen!
