I'm burning out, again....

How about moving to Toronto? :D

Heh, another request to move someplace - you people think I'm made of money here?! :p:D RC, FWIW, I'd love to join your game. I read over your CS document you sent me last year, and it's just full of all the crunchy bits I love to meddle with :)

Jdvn1 - the most recent game I ran (for a mere two sessions, which is when I realized I was truly burning out) I simply played by RAW with Weapon Groups. Mostly the House Rules I have come into play when we're in my homebrew CS, though a few have made their way into all of my games, simply because they work well, or I think they fit - like Cha to Will Saves, for one, or my Weapon Group Proficiency system (link in my Tasty Bits thread) for another.

Dog Moon - man, all of those 'bits and pieces' from my homebrew Ascension: Paths of Power have so much more to them now from when I was constantly posting in HR last year. My races are very Tolkienesque and well-rounded and tasty, and my classes cover a wide variety of niches and focus on the martial archetype much like our earth's own history - IOWs, there are very very arcanist-type classes. I'd like to work on this stuff now, but I'm just too fed up with everything to bother. I'll come back to it someday in the future of course :)

My apologies to those who I haven't replied to directly - I wasn't expecting so many comments from the community about my issues - but thank you all for your wonderful feedback; I'll be coming back to it and mulling over a bunch of it.

cheers,
--N

Should be the near future, but if you're burned out, that may not be the case. :(

My schedule is hell but maybe I can swing down to the 'Peg from The Pas sometime and sit in on your game.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone at the table with enthusiasm, energy and a touch of the thespian to get people out of their ruts and try re-connecting with their game in a different way. If time allows, I'll be your huckleberry and I will show your players how to ramp the game to a new level.

I've been in lots of games and one things my past DMs will tell you about me...it is never, ever boring at the table when I go into 'fun' mode. I put the 'role' back into 'roll-playing'.

I'm pissed off, I guess. I'm burning out again as a DM. I'm tired of thinking up some great, original plots and have the players show absolutely no interest in what I'm doing, squabble over house rules already (supposedly) accepted, contribute almost no role-playing and when the ROLL playing comes up, they don't know what they're doing.

Think up some not-so-great, cliche-ridden plots that allow no house rules and involve no role-playing.

That'll show 'em.
