Immovable Rod Question

immovable rod is a misnomer. it actually moves so fast it can keep up with the earths rotation. but this brings to question does the game world rotate?

For argument purposes, for this discussion we will say it moves at the same speed as Earth. I like your answer though, it makes perfect since, but the book states that "...the rod does not move from where it is, even if staying in place defies gravity."

would open up a cool adventure of trying to figure out what is wreking havoc on the planet every year since it would destroy things due to rotation but would only be on planey for a set time each year due to revolution

haha! I love your answer. Here would be the end of the adventure:

Ikki approaches the rod and presses the button to release its magical property. It falls limp into Ikki's hand. The world is saved once again!

Moral of the story? Don't let people with such forgetful memories take hold of the immovable rode, it may lead to dire consequences. ;)

Actually, assuming we are talking about an earth rotation - the damage would occur every day. However the path of destruction would tilt 20 degrees over a six month period traveling either north or south depending upon the season and whether you are in the northern or southern hemisphere and then returning the other direction. Frankly that would be some swath of destruction. Possibly civilization ending for some cultures.

Seeing that the rod can moved with a DC 30 Str check, its not all that Immovable now is it?

So I guess we can say that the planet can beat that on a 1 or less . . .
