Improved 2 Weapon Defense question

Improved 2 Weapon Defense gives you +2 AC when fighting with 2 weapons.

I currently prefer using spiked shields as my off-hand weapon (esp with Imp. Shield Bash & Bashing enchantment).

Would you allow a character fighting with 2 Weapon style with a weapon and a bashing shield to gain the benefit of the Improved Weapon Defense Feat?

The munchkin in me says "Yes! Yes! 1000xYes!"

The DM in me says "Hmmmmmmmm....."

it depends on who it is worded, if it is a shield bonus then it won't stack, but if it is like a dodge bonus it would be okay.

Its a shield bonus, so one would think that it wouldn't.

However, Datsana's (armored sleeves) +1AC works with light armors and shields, and you would think THEY provide either armor or shield bonuses, so there are exceptions, apparently.

If the armored sleeves give a shield bonus, they don't stack either unless they specifically say otherwise.

Datsana specifically state that they stack with shields and light armor.

The curious thing is that the AC bonus type is never listed in the item desciption- though it isn't for shields either. Datsana are, however, grouped with shields on the charts in which they are listed.

I believe they are origionally from OA where shields didn't exist. That's what I remember anyway from the boards, I don't own any of the books. It's worth considering that fact when deciding whether or not to allow them into a game.

Ya, they are not meant to be used in a game outside the specific setting they are introduced in.

OA does have buckler-equivalent, the Tessen

Datsana are also in the Arms & Equipment Guide, a more general book than OA.
