Improved monk attack

That passage allows a monk to benefit from spells, psionic powers, spell-like abilities and supernatural effects that enhance or improve Manufactured or Natural Weapons.

This doesn't have anything to do with prerequisites.

How else do you benefit from a feat's effects, except by meeting its prerequisites?

Accept it.

Which part of "A monk's unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons" did you fail to understand?

I hate to say it, but this is starting to sound less like a rules discussion and more like you trying to brow beat us into your point of view.

If you don't like it, then don't allow it in your game - the way the rule is stated, your interpretation of it is understandable. I just don't happen to agree with you. Later today I'm going to gather up this thread and submit the question to WoTC to see if I can get an answer straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. What they say will probably be more along the lines of what you're thinking, Egres (since that's the vibe I've gotten from the FAQ).

You are right, I tend to be harsh.

I apologize.

You can't. ;)

Exactly. Now stop being dumb.
No, you should stop being dumb.

If you can't, you can't and stop.

You can't qualify for the feat, and stop.

Don't insult, please.

I don't think your insult can add something useful to this debate.

Quote rules, not insults.

Hyp, where are you?

The thing is that, while hong might not be being the most elegant spokesman and I don't condone his manner, he has quoted rules. And so are you - and so are a lot of people on this thread... and most of us are quoting the same rules...

It's in the interpretation; I happen to agree with hong. BTW, I've also sent off the question to Wizards, so hopefully we'll hear back from them soon.

A natural attack comes form a bite or a slam etc., when one is improved, it enhances that method of attack. A monks Unamed Strikes come from fists, feet, knees, head, body etc.

How can it make them qualify if they aren't Natural Weapons for the purposes of prerequisites?

Because "prerequisites" are not something special and unique - they are part of the feat. So, if the feat is an effect AND it is a natural weapon for the purpose of effects, THEN it is a natural weapon for the purpose of feats. And "for the purpose of" implies both getting and using.

And, as a side note, some people keep using "effect" like it would specifically refer to what happens when you use a feat, but the correct term for that is "benefit".

Question... Why would this only apply to Monks? Wouldn't ANYONE (that is, any RACE) technically have "natural weapons"? Fists, hands, knees, elbows, etc. are all "natural" weapons. The difference is, the Monk can attack with them w/o provoking an AoO.

So really when you think about it, a Fighter, Mage, Rogue, etc. (of any race) should be allowed to get this feat.
