Scouts don't have Longbow proficiency, do they?

No, this is one of those "tweener" classes where elves actually benefit from their bonus weapon proficiencies. Normally, a scout is proficient only with simple weapons, short swords, shortbows, throwing axes, and hand axes.

Scouts are better with Xbows and Xbow sniper anyhow... ;) At low levels!

Go Scout3/Ranger17 with Swift Hunter and you'll have no problem. Enjoy Imp Skirmish and Greater Manyshot, as VonRichthofen here loved to explain, 28d6 skirmish damage is nothing to frown at.

Let me consider this and do some math.

Lets say, Rogue 3/Swashbuckler 17, with TWF/Imp TWF/GTWF, we have iterative attacks at

17/17/12/12/7/7/2/2 for 10d6 sneak each, thats 80d6 sneak attack damage.

What was the improved manyshot problem with 28d6 damage again?

Did I miss something where rogue and swashbuckler levels stack for sneak attack damage? If so, that's a nasty, nasty combo.

The same feat type as the one that lets Scout and Ranger stack from the "28d6" is bad camp. Just to be clear, a level 20 rogue with just 15/10/5 does 30d6 sneak per round, though, and hasnt used any feats whatsoever to do it, so 28d6 is nothing to write home about.

Daring Outlaw is the name of the feat that allows Rogue and Swashbuckler to stack, from Comp. Scoundrel, IIRC.

Don't forget people, scouts still take a huge minus to attack when using improved manyshot. A ranger17/scout3 has a BAB of 19, lets say a 30 dex, weapon focus, point blank shot and a +2 enhancement bow. With four arrows and improved manyshot that is +25 four times(19BAB+10dex+1PBS+2enhancement+1focus). The pit fiend has an AC of 40, meaning mr. archer has to roll a 15 or better, (on average hitting once, doing 1d8+2+str+7d6 ). Does it sound better balanced now?

I still think the skirmisher hits more often than the rogue with that many iterative attacks... and the skirmisher won't have to eat the full attack actions of the monsters in return.
