Why does improved disarm removed the chance of retaliation where as improved trip doesn't?

Because improved disarm doesn't give you a free attack on your opponent.

Helooooow. A tripping attempt does not provoke an AoO. Why should Improved Trip be similar to Improved Disarm?

The two feats and combat manoevers are completely different, why should there be such similarities?

Thoughts

Do you then think that a expert trip feat that dupes the skills of the disarm feat is an ok feat?

When I was talking about retaliation I was talking about the failed trip resulting in trip in return.

The new feat would look like this:
Expert Trip
INT 13+ Expertise Fighters may take this feat as one of their bonus feats.
When you do a trip action, your opponent does not get a chance to trip you.


Has anyone seen a feat that lets you use the size of a weapon as your size for the purposes of tripping?
