Improvements after 3.5

I think thats the universal agreement.

Well it's never safe to say that... the net being the net and all. ;)

I mean whodathunk that anyone would not see the advantage of swift and immediate actions. :D

Wait, wait, we're putting "improvement" and 3.5 in the same thread? "Improvements" like the new clearly worded Darkness spell? Or "improvements" like the unambiguous weapon sizing/handling rules? Or "improvements" like the balanced and clear Polymorph rules? Switf/immediate action rules pales in comparison to 3.5 "improvements" to the core rules.

Rename it shadows if it's that much of a problem to you.
Or "improvements" like the unambiguous weapon sizing/handling rules?
Eh? Where's the problem here? Half the gaming population think it's a good idea, and the other half were house-ruling their butts off with the old one anyway.
Or "improvements" like the balanced and clear Polymorph rules?
Well, you can't say they got definitavely WORSE...

I'm not quite sure what this sentence is supposed to mean. I think you mean that swift and immediate actions aren't a big enough good thing to balance out what you see as bad things. I for one think you're wrong.

An finally I don't like the idea of having a RPG which evolves like Windows i.e. in "patches", but I guess that's only a matter of personal taste: if I were to follow the process of refining rules over and over, it would detract me from more interesting sides of the game.

I wonder how you've ever managed to play D&D, then. It has always evolved in patches. Ever since Supplement I: Greyhawk.

What was Unearthed Arcana (1e)? A big collection of patches.

Cheers!

I have used the core books for mechanics, and supplements to add new data but not adjustments to the rules (unless I want a real _variant_).

Why can't you do the same with 3.x?
