IN GORM GULTHYN'S HALL

[There are 40 masterwork arrows in the weaponstash]

Van, you and Velm go to the next set of doors.

Velm:
"Let me leave this mithril suit here, Snowcap."

You and he make your way back to the armory, where Velm trades Iolar's Skin for a mithril chain shirt. This takes about fifteen minutes. Then you drag out Zandris Winter's shattered corpse, and lock the doors behind you.

Velm:
"Quiet all of a sudden."

There is no sound issuing from the direction of the stairs.

You go back into Gorm Gulthyn's hall and lock the portal.

Does anyone have any objection to me using a dose of the Oil of Timelessness on this body? I've got a cunning plan, and although this body is crushed, it may come in useful, and I would rather it look its best for that time.

Velm noticed that it is quiet outside. Do you think the troglodytes have run for their darker holes?

I hate to hole up here too long, but we need to be fully healed, and didn't you say you were going to try and scribe a couple of scrolls, Bronn? How are people's health? Velm, Roman and I took quite a beating from the deepspawn, but it looks like Saeita's quite healthy, and Bronn and Cara look fine.

Excellent work on finding these masterwork arrows, Roman. Let me take half and you take half. These will come in handy.

Is there a masterwork shortsword back in that stash as well? I think I'll check it out.

OOC: Hey, Tom, will you check, but I think it is possible to give a healing potion to an unconscious character. Or at least that's how I read something in the handbook the other day.

OOC: Tom, I'm looking for a couple of mithril daggers if there are some.. might as well exchange them for the old ones I have.

OOC: Glen -- I checked it out .. sadly, clerics can't use arcane scrolls, even with Read Magic. Just two different types of magic. By the way, what's your "Use Magical Devise" rating? Maybe you can use this wand? But it'd be waste if there's a big chance of spell failure.

Velm & Van: Sorry, to both of you, but you're not qualified to understand the ways of arcane magic. Summoned Monsters are under my total control... and no deals are made with dark powers. No temptation at all...

So if I need to summon a dire weasel or what have you to save either of your lives... I'm going to do it. If it makes either of you feel better, I'll do my best to keep the monsters out of your sight while you battle.

I told tell you how to shoot bows or swing axes... so just leave the arcane powers to me. Abandoning magic armor is foolish, but it's your decision, Cousin. This is not.

But that aside, I can scribe no scrolls down here, Van. Other than identifying these potions, I'm ready to go. Shall I identify one of them?

OOC: Bronn, there are a few masterwork daggers, but none made of mithral.

Velm: grits teeth until anger subsides
"What will you do when the dark powers take notice of you, wizard?

"If this magic-user cannot curb his desire to gain victory by evil means, then I vote we depart Aerunedar, through the tunnel that leads to the Southeast Gatehouse. The curse is lifted, so Dorn and his Doomslayers can return and deal with Nightscale. Perhaps I'll help him.

"I've already lost my Clan for you, wizard. I'm not giving up my faith as well."

Bronn, you had better hope that I am unconscious or already dead if you do summon another evil thing. I will gladly stay in the arms of Selune than be saved by an infernal creature. I may not know much about arcane magic, but I do know that there are plenty of acceptable creatures in the planes that you can summon to assist us rather than bringing forth some foul abomination.

Do I have to say, "I'm not joking," for this to get through to you?

OOC: Yeah, I checked read magic out, too, and agree with your assessment. Except for the special powers of the moonscroll, which obviously won't help us down here, I wouldn't be able to read that scroll. Bummer.

We shall see. *Bronn goes back to studying*

OOC: Glen - I found the spot where it says you cannot read Arcane Magic:

Arcane Magical Writings

..... Deciphering a magical writing allows the reader to identify the spell and gives some idea of its effects (as explained in the spell description). If the magical writing was a scroll
and the reader can cast arcane spells, she can attempt to use the scroll.

OOC: I'm pretty sure I offered to cast healing spells while we were camped out, but we were getting ready to leave the Other Dungeon at the time. Consider this a reiteration.

Cara: Someone is unwell? Can I help?

Hmm... I seem to be losing track of time. How long since we fought the Deepspawn? (Icky thing. Far too large and versatile. Not to mention scummy.)

Velm:
"It's been...ah, probably a day now. You should heal Roman and Van first...my wounds can wait."

(So far you've all gone to the Hall of Clangeddin, moved to Gorm Gulthyn's Hall, retrieved Zandris' body, left Iolar's Skin in the armory, argued about summonings, and Bronn has finished casting one identify spell, on the wand.)

If anyone checks, you'll find that there is still total silence from the direction of the stairs up to Cindarm's Hall...
