IN GORM GULTHYN'S HALL

OOC: I'm going to assume I received one of those healing spells from Cara right after the deepspawn battle, otherwise I wouldn't be up and walking. I'm also assuming that I cast my three cure orisons (+3 HP) and two cure minors (1d8+1 apiece) from that first day on myself. I started at -1 after nearly drowning, I believe.

Van says:
"Let's get a cloth and wrap this body. Make it look dwarf-size, if you can. Given the fact that's it been crushed, that shouldn't be difficult."

"It's quiet above. Trogs must have run away. That's both good and bad."

"Question: What did Zandrus Winter hope to obtain in Moraddin's Hall? Had she planned to remove Hathos' curse herself? Why?"

Velm: grumbling about how power corrupts...

"I'll be in the meditation room. I've thought about what you said in the armory, Snowcap...I just don't think the added protection of Iolar's armor will make or break us in our fight with Nightscale. Relying on nothing but that sort of thing to ensure victory is the surest way to defeat."

"Here's another question? If Hissenspit actually did take Shieldcoil's bones to Ruathgrym, and that's what it took to release him from the prison that Hathos tricked him into, where will he go now that he's free? What will he do?"

Heal!

It would seem that I had been cautious in using spells during the battle with the Deepspawn (scummy thing! Why couldn't it have lived in a good clean earthy burrow instead of that icky scum-covered water?). After the battle, I cast a spell of moderate healing and one of light healing on Van, and three spells of light healing on Roman; I hope that you both are feeling much better.

OOC: Van: 21+13, Roman: 7+10+11

This was yesterday at least, and I'm fresh today; how does everyone feel?

OOC: Don't forget that you also get your level in hp per night of rest!

Velm:
"We should stay here for one more day, at least, and focus all of our spellpower on healing...everyone up for that?"

One more day sounds good... unless anyone objects, I shall identify one of these potions.

Velm brings up a good point... what was Zandrus trying to do? Lift the curse? Very doubtful. I assumed she was trying to find the riches of Aerunedar... this is the city of gold after all. The mithril we found in the mines could have bought a small fiefdom..

Anyone else have a suggestion?

I've been thinking a lot of Ruathgrym the Corpsecoil this last day. Just to play Demon's advocate here... has the Corpsecoil wronged us in any way? I mean, he took us into his house and WE offered to get him those bones. Then he sent his construct after us... but only to get the bones we promised him! Then he sent his minion to come after us... and he also just tried to get those bones back. He hasn't attacked us or really harmed us in any way.

In fact, he admitted to destroying Aerunedar and slaying Glamerdrung the dragon... but he says he's repented. Why do we not believe him in anymore?

That being said, from my standpoint, he's powerful and evil... and evil needs to be destroyed. Case closed. But I know that Van often sees things differently on this point.

Velm:
"Perhaps you could just summon him to answer all your questions, wizard.

"I don't think Zandris was trying to lift the curse...after all, the curse couldn't be lifted until the power of the Coil was broken. I think she just wanted the contents of the armory.

"When we return to Eveningstar, we should be sure to 'ask' Lady Winter what she knows about all of this.

Personally, I'd like to leave the lich alone. Although his impatience in sending his construct after the bones pisses me off just a bit. I mean, he's been sitting up there in that tower for years, what's another day or week to him? That thing hurt me, too. I suspect that the lich won't leave us alone, however.

One of the reasons I preserved Zandris' body is to show her mother, and the Eveningstar population, just exactly what she had become. I'm not convinced that Lady Winter herself isn't somehow involved, and I'm not taking the blame like she tried to place on us last time.

Thanks for the healing--I'm better and I can also help others.

I also think that's a marvelous idea about identifying one of those potions. Did you ever figure out what that wand does, Bronn?

OOC: First of all, let me congratulate Glen on his excellent History of the Selunite Faith in Cormyr! I read in on the plane this weekend and loved it. A very interesting glimpse into the background of Van!

IC: I tell you now, we have no chance against that Lich. I cast spells of the fourth circle, and I could destroy this party in a heartbeat... imagine what a lich who can cast spells of the ninth circle could do? ;) I kid, of course (though, not really).

However, there is someone or someTHING who might help us *Bronn begins mumbling his plan to the party... just out of earshot of the DM*
