I suppose you don't impose XP penalties? Once Sorcerer and Cleric levels are 4+, the character should suffer a -20XP penalty...

I am not familiar with the class as my group and I never picked up the book. But it is something to look into.Darklone said:I would propose to him the Cloistered Cleric variant from UA, not many armour proficiencies, d6 hitdice, 4 skillpoints per level and more class skills (IIRC)... Perhaps one or two skill focus bonus feats additionally wouldn't be too bad for him. Don't worry about the MT, it won't make this character too strong.
Possibly? But the Cleric/Paladin is a level behind at Clr3/Pal1 and must continue in Paladin because of a magic item. So while she has decent spells right now they aren't getting better any time soon. The character also has a 10 Charisma(so no Laying on Hands)Elder-Basilisk said:It sounds like you've got a player taking long-term steps to fix a short term problem. The paladin/cleric is 4th level at the moment. Next level, his ability to heal (apparently the party's problem) is going to double. Two levels later it will nearly double again. On the other hand, becoming a Mnk 2/Sor 3/Clr 1 will not contribute very much to the party's healing capacity past the next level. The Pal/Clr will be several spellcasting levels ahead of the Mnk/Sor/Clr. If the mnk/sor/clr decides to go mystic theurge, it might get slightly better but he would still be a pretty weak character--even at 20th level. (Mnk 2/Clr 4/Sor 4/Mystic Theurge 10 or Mnk 2/Clr 3/Sor 5/Theurge 10 will only just barely get 7th level spells and won't be good at much besides spellcasting).
I would encourage him, instead, to stick with the monk/sorceror combination which is a better long-term character (and short term too--2nd level arcane spells will make more of a difference to the party than an extra 2 CLW spell/day) and either buy potions, scrolls, or a wand of CLW to make up the short term deficiency in healing. Five levels down the road, the party will be much better off with a semi-competent sorceror and a semi-competent healer than with a semi-competent healer and an incompetent healer/sorceror.
Since your the DM, that last option would make things especially difficult for you if you have any players who aren't shooting themselves in the foot during character creation. A well-constructed single-class character will outshine the multiclassing mutts in the party so completely that it will be difficult to provide a challenge that they can all contribute to.
