In Search Of a 'Modern Fantasy Revised Earth' setting

D20: Urban Arcana and (to a certain extend) D20: Darkmatter both deal with magic from a standpoint of a "shadow war". I'm pretty sure D20: Apocalypse has a scenario or two for introducing magic to a modern world through a major event - if not, the introduction would take very little modification to work.

Amazing Engine Campaign Settings

Magitech: A D&D style modern fantasy world where magic replaces technology. Predates Eberron.

For Faerie, Queen, & Country: A low magic fantasy world where the fae are citizens of the British Empire (early 19th century, technology exists). Predates Castle Falkenstein.

Bughunters: A game where you play synthetic humans who hunt down alien monsters (a cross between Bladerunner and Aliens).

Tabloid: A game where you play a tabloid writer in a world where the supernatural stays just out of sight.

Galactos Barrier: A Star Wars ripoff where music replaces the force.

Once and Future King: An Arthurian world set in the far future where androids, robots, genetically altered humans, and technology replaces ancient monsters and magic.

Metamorphosis Alpha to Omega: A rework of Metamorphosis Alpha using the AE rules, originally written for the 4th Edition Gamma World rules.

Kromosome: A biopunk post-cyberpunk world where bioware is the current rage and microcorporations are set to topple the megacorps.

Holy crap, that sounds like it exactly! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions, Shadowrun definitely sounds like it would work, but I'm looking for something that already has the modern 'revised history' of earth written for me (I'm lazy?). Again, thanks everyone, I'm going to check this Atomic Overmind out.

I hope you enjoy it. It is on my long list of "gotta run it or play in it sometime!"

There is also GURPS Technomancer. In that case, it was the test of the first nuclear weapon in 1945 that brought magic back, and "the science of magic" developed together with technology, and there is a broad range of magical effects interacting with technology and vice versa. This setting is not post-apocalyptic - while there is plenty of weirdness, events still are fairly close to our own timeline.

You can buy the setting here in PDF form for only $7.99. While it's written for GURPS, there is no reason why you shouldn't able to adapt it to any other rule system which allows both modern technology and magic.

Wow, a lot of really good-looking stuff here. Especially Magitech and D20: Darkmatter, but I want to make a list out of a ton of this stuff. Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you want modern day tech (well, at least as of 1999), GURPS Technomancer is the bomb (heh). If 1950-ish tech (plus weird science) is close enough, Day After Ragnarok is awesome.

Of course, you could update either one to the modern day easily enough, though you'd have to make up your own history to cover the intervening decade(s).

I think Darkmatter is essentually D20: Alternaty, although some quick google-fu attaches it to Gamma World and a number of other things (some of which probably showed up in d20 future).
