I suppose it's appropriate to necro a thread about such an old module.
...anyway, I had lost my old basic set decades ago, no idea what happened to it, and I was never the kind of kid to lose things... so I dug up the module on line, I barely remembered the name, I though it was 'descent into the somethingorother..." but I eventually recognized the illo of the party among the mushrooms. I ran it, along with Village of Homlett and the nominal 'first' module of each of the prior WotC editions, all under 5e the first chance I got at a convention after it came out.
I ran them in reverse chronological order, so Unknown got run in my favorite, sleep-deprived, loopy, Monday-morning slot. It was a hoot, with it's paper-thin walls, map-defeating teleport rooms, and arbitrary magical pools.
Oh, and the TPK, of course.

Ditto. Everyone around here seems to have started with the "Red Box" I never even noticed the Red Box by the time it came out, I was deep into AD&D...got it with the boxed set with the huge red dragon on the treasure pile on the cover.
