The most complete write-up in existence on Myrkul is found in the 2e supplement Faiths and Avatars, which is available as an ESD.

Cool! Thanks! I think a fellow DM actually has that back, but I might go ahead and just grab the PDF while I'm at it.

Also: "MYRKUL (MERR-kool)

Lord of Bones, Old Lord Skull

God of the Dead, Wasting, Decay,

Corruption, Parasites, Old Age,

Dusk, Fall, Exhaustion NE

Greater Power Hades

Symbol: A skull or skeletal hand

NOTES: This god usually appears as a cloaked, animated corpseóskeletal at its head, becoming fleshed toward its feet, which are gangrenous and rotting. Myrkul is said to have a cold, malignant intelligence and to speak in a high whisper His supernatural servants are known as ìDeathsî (such as that which appears as part of the deck of many

things, DMG, p.143). He can animate and command the dead, but has no power over undead above the level of zombies and skeletons. Myrkul lives in the Castle of Bones, located in a moonless Land of Always Night (Hades)."

Lots out there on the web, but nothing compellingly complete.

Yeah, and I think he was the driving power behind the theft of the Tablets of Fate, which led to the Time of Troubles. Bane was more active, Bhaal was not much more than a servant of the other two, but Myrkul was the one in the background, the puppeteer holding the strings of his fellow gods.

I believe that when he was destroyed, his essence came to rest in an artifact nearby, specifically, the Crown of Horns(Thorns?). This info is in either Faiths and Pantheons, or Magic of Faerun, not sure.

The crown of horns (major artifact) may be found in Magic of Faerun.

There's a Myrkulyte prestige class (the horned harbinger) in Faiths and Pantheons.
