Innocent encounters.

My campaign is full of these, actually. Here're a few.

41. A beggar on a bridge sees the passing adventurers and falls in behind them, marching along like a soldier.

42. A liveried servant lies on the ground, motionless, in front of a sedan chair; a richly-dressed noblewoman is beating him with her fan and exhorting him in a foreign language.

43. A barmaid is listening carefully to the adventurers' tales; after awhile she approaches the group and says that her brother is a man-at-arms and she thinks he would make a good adventurer, too.

44. A friar is exhorting alms for the redemption of captives enslaved by another kingdom.

45. Three well-dressed rakes have stolen an old man's hat and are throwing it back and forth as the old man struggles to get it back.

46. Kids rolling hoops with sticks. The sticks look like snakes.

47. A Zombie with its arms outstretched walks by. (A sleepwalker.)

48. A funeral procession.

49. Spot a dead body in an alleyway. (Sleeping potboy shirking his duties.)

50. Children writing something on a wall.

(I love these.)

51. A small crowd has gathered to listen to a minstrel.
52. Two small puppies chase each other across the street.
53. As the PC's walk past a house someone throws filthy wash water down towards them from the highest window.
54. An old grumpy man is being led somewhere by an enthusiastic young boy.
55. Three young women peering wistfully into a sweet shop window. They aren't looking at the sweets, but the man setting them up.
56. A yawning donkey walks past. It has a broken strap around its neck.
57. A family is being evicted from their home.
58. An old lady runs past, laughing and waving at someone who's already walked past a street corner and beyond the PC's sight.
59. In a thunderous gallop a company of soldiers rides off to somewhere seemingly urgent.
60. A love letter flies slowly past in the wind.

61. A young boy screams and runs away when another spots him cowering behind a barrel. They are playing hide-n-seek.
62. A monkey with a red fez runs by, chattering excitedly as a fat, wheezing man in striped pajamas tries to pursue.
63. Lightning strikes a nearby steeple.
64. A young man lays down his cloak so that a pretty young woman can cross a mud puddle. The woman puts up her nose and walks around.
65. A rag dangles from the mouth of a stone gargoyle upon a church roof.
66. An old woman flowerpeddler wanders by, crying aloud "Flores para los muertos!"

67. The traveling magistrate is in town, and is holding court in the central square. The townspeople crowd the area to have their problems heard.
68. The party's business is delayed by a funeral procession passing through the area. Anyone not showing proper respect is likely to be ostracized.
69. Someone the PCs meet has a minor illness that they may pass along to the group.
70. A stray dog begins following one of the PCs and begging for food.
71. A bear is forced to dance for the entertainment of a crowd of onlookers.
72. A charismatic traveling salesman is fleecing a group of people, selling a miracle cure that is in fact mildly addictive.

73. While in a city a guided tour wanders by and you overhear the guide giving one wrong fact after another though it appears the tourists are eating it up.

74. A bald bearded man, elderly but spry, sits cross-legged upon a small rug of exotic design. He is deep in though as he smokes a long pipe, and floats about 6 inches off the ground
75. Goons are removing bundles from a shop, over the pleas of the old couple who work there. The goons work for the tax collector.
76. A big, scowling tomcat leaps from sill to sill, actively seeking out flower pots, laundry and baked goods to knock down into the street.
77. A handful of marbles lies abandoned by the side of the road. They are encircled by a ring dran in the dust.
78. A threatening screech and then gurgling noise emanate from a drain in the road.

79. A man walks by with a sign "The world resets in 48 minutes".
80. The players pass a brook that runs red as blood (iron deposits or someone dying cloth upstream?).
81. There is thunder above, but no rain or wind.
82. A young woman hands out free flowers from a basket. They have been refreshed with soap, and wilt very quickly.
83. A young boy stumbles in the street, dropping the wares he was carrying. He is a porter, but not quite strong enough because he is so young.
84. An apple falls on the head of a character - from a tree, upstairs window, juggler's performance, whatever.
