I just went down to the break room at work to get a snack and a soda.

I put 75 cents in the vending machine for a bag of pretzels, which cost 70 cents. I got a dime back as change.

Then I put 75 cents in the soda machine for a Dr Pepper, which cost 60 cents. I again got a dime back as change.

Or the machines are sentient and planned the whole thing between them. Do they say Skynet anywhere on them?

You should have quit while you were ahead.

The first time I used the vending machine in our break room here, I got a 1976 quarter back as change. Those are getting to be hard to come by, and I have a modest collection of them.

Second time I got one of those new nickels back.

Third time I got the *other* new nickel design.

Fourth time was just mundane change. But, I was really on a roll there getting back nifty change every time I used the thing.

It also advertises that it takes gold dollar coins, which makes the coins actually somewhat useful!
