Hi. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is a "statblock" and a "widget"?

A widget is a graphical dohickey.

Er...

A graphical object. The Start button on Windows XP is a widget, as is the frame of a window, a menu, the X (close) button in the upper right corner of a window, a check box, etc...

Okay, that hurts. Ber, I've been a Mac guy nearly as long as there have been Macs. The Mac version has been posted in the "Mac Software" thread for weeks.

My Mac support is in fact substantially more complete than my Windows support since I actually know something about how Macs works. Windows, I just pretty much cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Kid Charlemagne: Is Konfabulator running properly? What do the supplied Konfabulator widgets look like to your system? In any event, NO, you do not need to extract any files at all from the downloaded .zip file. That file is the application, IF you have Konfabulator installed and rename the file to have the .widget extension.

Consider a restart after installing Konfabulator. That might help, dunno.

Make sure you try out the COPY feature as well, folks -- shift-click and you can turn any chunk of copied text into a stat block you can use later. If you've got common mooks or specialized creature builds you use regularly, this is a great place to store them.

And the whole thing is dead easy to customize. You can extract the archive to a folder, add any files you like to the "Data" folder (or edit the files in place), rezip it and again flip the extension to ".widget" instead of ".zip" and StatBlockPaster will happily give you your rearranged data without a hiccup. It generates the menus based on the data in those files, so if you edit the files, the menus will update automatically. Create your own type files to organize your stat blocks however you want them! You can create a "d20 Modern" file, for example, or a "Mutants and Masterminds" file, and those categories will obediently show up in your drop-down menues. Just follow the existing file name and XML format -- the stat block format itself doesn't matter, so you can mix and match games as much as you like.

I got it working - whether it was rebooting or using the Konfabulator icon in the toolbar I don't know, but it works!

Thanks!

Well, I *just* started browing the forums by "all new posts". I didn't even know there's a Mac software thread.

But thanks, I'll be looking into it asap (or asaigh)

as soon as i get home.

It's a good thread, you'll be glad you looked into it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, and one more thing: if you find any errors in the data, please let Andargor know right away so he can fix it up.

I know there's a problem with the Elder Xorn that'll be fixed in the next version. My data is extracted directly from the SRD RTFs, so if there's a formatting error there, it's propagated to the data (which was the case for the Xorn and other beasties that were fixed).
