INT rogue?

I also don´t buy the int slayer thing... i guess maximizing int for a slayer ist the worst thing imaginable...

the int-thief thing however seems like a great idea, especially as a human with MC swordmage and intelligent blademaster...

oh, and the dex thing is a "can"... you could also maximize strength instead of dexterity (but you should then really think about getting scale mail + specialization)
But back to the matter: with intelligent blademaster, you could use dexterity, strength or int, whichever is higher!

Also note, that the dexterity for MBAs can be done with every weapon, but the +2 bonus is only with thief weapons!

I'm pretty sure the Thief can do anything. But I'm biased.

Thief multiclassed into Swordmage for intelligent blademaster is worth the 2 feats, but just Melee Training Int isn't the worst thing ever: with a Thief your main striker attributes are being deadly accurate and sneak attack/extra dice.

You lose a couple of "staple" abilities such as Dex based initiative modifier and a good Acrobatics checks. However, you're getting a lot of flavor out of an Int based Thief and your AC/Ref thankfully won't suffer. I wish the same could be said about a Wisdom based Thief.

Stick it to WotC!

The title of my post is a bit tongue in cheek, of course.

What I meant to say is that you could make a Thief whose best scores were Int (per the OP); Constitution (for camping around at old ruins); Wisdom for Dungeoneering, Perception and Insight.

You would take Melee Training (int), and yes you would end up dealing a teensy bit less damage, but like others have said the thief's main striker schticks are hitting every damn thing and sneak attack, so I don't think on the balance it would be so bad.

The only real issue I see popping up with this is the class skill list. The thief doesn't have any Int skills as class skills, and if you go whole hog and do Int/Con/Wis rather than Dex/Str/Cha, you're going to be in a bit of trouble. You'd have to ask your DM to be understanding and maybe let you come up with a skill list that better matches your concept.

Alternatively, to have an "educated" feel without making the above jury-rigging, make sure your Int is 13 or higher (still above the norm) and take Disciple of Lore (master's degree :) ) and/or Jack of All Trades (liberal arts education :) ).
