Pathfinder 1E Intelligent magical items

Jerichomage

First Post
I am playing Pathfinder in a Forgotten Realms game. My character is a F1/W4 Gish, not min/maxed. He uses Strong Arm Bracers to wield a large maul. He is a LG human from Waterdeep. Everyone in the party are members of The Guardians of the Weave and worship Mystra. My guy is focused on being good at Dispel Magic, which he gets next level. He hates the Shadow Weave with a passion, so naturaly Rend Shadow Weave is a must. I want to make his weapon intelligent. Any thoughts, ideas, or names for it. I want to make it sorta like a religious weapon for followers of Mystra to help protect them and aid them in fighting the Shadow Weave. Also if possible aiding the wielder in casting Dispel Magic. So far I figure Detect Magic, knowledge Arcana and Spellcraft are good starting points. I will have this weapon till at least level 15 so figure around 100k in gold worth of ideas. Thanks for all your help.

Call it Shadowshatter? Lightweaver? Umbrasmasher? Shadowfrayer (as in frayed threads of the Shadow Weave?)

Definitely make it a Holy weapon. See about giving it the Dispel Magic property (from Magic of Faerun, I believe) but a variant version that only dispels Shadow Weave effects. Maybe give it the Flaming property, perhaps with a silver flame to represent the magical fire of the Weave and Mystra's Silver Fire. Possibly have it be a Bane weapon against creatures that use Shadow Weave magic (I would allow that as an acceptable category for the Bane property if I were DMing, but you'll have to consult your own DM on it.)

Maybe ask if you could create it as a magic Staff as well as a weapon (requiring that you have the Craft Magic Staff feat in addition to Craft Magic Arms and Armor... the same way a Staff of Power requires you to have both feats to create it) since a Maul is essentially a big hammer head at the end of a staff, and fill it up with Dispel Magic and Light descriptor spells. I did a similar thing with a magic sword in one campaign where I was playing an Eldritch Knight; I created a Sword of Power instead of a Staff of Power. My DM let me research the creation process of the new item as if I were researching a new spell of the highest level that was contained in the Staff/Sword. It had all the effects of a Staff of Power, and functioned as a magic Staff, but it was in the form of a sword.

Just some ideas, I hope you find them useful.

Great ideas Aaron. Your Staff/Sword of Power idea is awesome. I am going to check with my DM and see what he says. The bane property actually came to mind but by the rules it wouldn't work but your thinking outside the box, that's exactly why I made this post.
