Interesting Gen Con releases?

Bad,

Yes the 5 year anniversery is an update. I also believe there's an additional adventure attached to it. But I'm not 100% sure. You'd have to check on GR's site to be sure. But that's easily a 50 dollar value. I also recommend, if you don't have it, the Advanced series offer. It's well worth the money if you like stuff that is very, very good and very, very cool.

Ah, good stuff. This is definitely on my "must have" list. $50 for Crisis, Creatures and the 5 Year Anniv. book (that's convert to 3.5, right?) seems like a good deal too. Creatures is the only old Freeport product I don't have.

All three books in the Freeport Bundle are 3.5. With the Freeport Trilogy and Crisis, you can run a campaign from low to mid level.

Maybe he meant 3.0 version of the Iron Heretics. To my knowledge, I don't believe anyone has done 1st edition D&D anything in a while...

Actually, 1E stuff is popping up left and right, it's just that most (none?) of it can say AD&D on the packaging:

http://www.pied-piper-publishing.com/index.php/home (pre-orders for the first module are supposed to ship this week, so a few people may have a copy before Gencon)

http://www.xrpshop.citymax.com/catalog/item/2632834/3277412.htm (the first print adventure advertising itself as OSRIC-compatible, taking pre-orders)

http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19206 (announcement of "Iron Crypt", followed by many Old Gamers public salivation)

The 1E version of "Iron Crypt" is probably the one only that will be available at Gencon.

Thanks for the information and links, Contrarian.

I preordered "The Cairn of the Skeleton King", and I have already bought "Pod Caverns of the Sinister Shroom" as a PDF., but I was not aware of the "Iron Heretics" 1E version. Since I won't be going to GenCon this year, I hope that it will be available (either in print or as a PDF) after the convention.

I noticed that he Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom says it is a OSRIC Adventure, I was wondering what that means.

Also is Cairn of the Skeleton King and the rest of the CAS the same system or d20?

Thans for any info.

OSRIC is an almost-1E OGL system.

The CAS modules are all going to use the Creations Unlimited system that Rob Kuntz used for the adventures he wrote after leaving TSR -- like a lot of 1980s indy products, it depends on "universal" characteristics that are very 1E-compatible.

OSRIC, is in essence, kind of an OGL document for the 1E system.

No, Rob Kuntz is not doing OSRIC. He is doing his own thing. That is supposed to be compatible with 2E, I think. I would have to read stuff again.

There is an OSRIC thread with a link to the Knight and Knaves website for the free download of the OSRIC document. It is close to 114 pages long, give or take.

I have also bought the XRP pdf and I must say, "SHROOMS RULE!!"

Think it's page 3 now Tree.

But thanks for that tidbit of info Con! I appreciate it.

*let's Rob do his own thing...and I won't buy it!* :p
