Interesting Gen Con releases?

Just a quick update. I've spoken to C.A., and we will indeed have at least some Lion's Den POD books at the Zeitgeist booth. :)

I know that we're going to have a book that compiles the first three Iconic Bestiaries--Classics of Fantasy, Classic Fey, and Classics of Controversy--for sale. We're supposed to have one other book as well, but I don't yet know if that's going to happen or not.

Can someone repost the details on the Ptolus contest? I know that it's a contest where whoever can hold the book in one hand, arm straight out, the longest wins a copy of the book (and it's a 6 lb. book!), but I can't recall the details of when and where it's happening, or if you need a ticket or not.

BTW, as I understand the rules for ENWorld, it is improper for Green Ronin, and others, to pimp their product releases in this forum. They are supposed to only do it in the publishers forum.

I think that an "exception" should be added to this rule allowing GenCon releases to be announced in the general forum since GenCon is such a huge event for so many of our members. But only specials or product releases for GenCon should be allowed. The Publishers News forum should still be used for all other product announcements or discussions.

I do believe that this thread may technically sidestep that rule since it wasn't started by a company trying to sell their merchandise, but were instead appropriate responses to the OP.
Even so, I think they should either be allowed to announce GenCon releases or specials, or someone should make a point of starting a thread like this a week or two before GenCon every year in this forum.

Just food for thought, since I know of no formal way to submit a formal request to change the rules.

Chris --- for those of us NOT at Gencon, will this bundle be available later on?

Sweet! I wish I was going. :(

Cat,

Some how I doubt it...

Tree,

Like you said this was in response to the OP's query, so I don't think any rules were violated. But I can understand your concern.

Hey, that's me! :)

I've found the responses to this thread very helpful. Knowing that many companies plan releases around GenCon, it's nice to have a thread where I can look at all the cool stuff coming out and decide how to spend twice my normal gaming budget this month. ;)

I can't buy everything noted in this thread, but it's nice to see what's going on in the D20 (and other RPG) world and check out some interesting new products. It's nice to see some Gencon related excitement that doesn't concern supposed 4E announcements.

well, i plan on picking up Dragon #347, for reasons that should be obvious to most by now. :D

anything else, well i probably won't have a whole lot of cash left after paying for our one-day badges and setting aside enough cash to eat. :\

Paradigm Concepts at GenCon Indy

Paradigm Concepts will be exhibiting at booth #537.

Our new products:

"Theocracy of Canceri"
The benighted nation in the north of Onara, Canceri, is a nation of contrasts. Its urbane and cultured priesthood practices the most brutal rites of sacrifice and worship in modern Arcanis. Necropoli stand in perfect repair as the homes of the living decay in ruin. Brutal slavery is the law of the land, yet every soul: priest, noble or common holds the right to ultimate ascension. In all things, wickedness is the norm. Virtue is weakness, and paradise awaits those that embrace their baser nature.
"Theocracy of Canceri" is a 144 page sourcebook for Arcanis: the World of Shattered Empires.

"Conspiracies"
Conspiracies, red meat for the masses, the tantalizing mysteries and puzzles built to comfort those afraid of the painful truth. The sanctuary of madmen, unwilling to admit the world is a dangerous place without direction. It is somehow less frightening to believe that a sinister cabal is orchestrating every terrible event than to admit that events are out of control, beyond the grasp of human management. Conspiracy Theories are comforting, they tell us that all was once well before the bad people came, and if the villains could be removed, all would be well again. Those that believe such things are part of a lunatic fringe, seeking impossible explanations for either inexplicable tragedy or the frighteningly simple truth that all is not well with the world. At least, that is what the powers that be want the cattle of the world to believe. Take care whilst reading this sourcebook, ignorance of the truth is a protection all its own.
"Conspiracies" is an 80 page sourcebook for Spycraft 2.0

"Tales of the Caliphate Nights"
The stories come from Arabia, Persia, India, even China. They tell not only of fearsome djinni and fantastical palaces, but also of profound spiritual insight and transformation. They reflect the enormous Islamic civilization during the ninth to thirteenth centuries, which stretched from Spain across North Africa to Cairo, across the Arabian peninsula, up to Damascus and Baghdad, further north to Samarkand, across what is now Afghanistan, down into India, and beyond. A traveler could wander across this vast region speaking Arabic, studying and praying in mosques, and trading with fellow Moslems. The stories are decadent, prejudiced, and fantastical, as well as redeeming, illuminating, and grounded. The stories are best known as the Thousand and One Arabian Nights. The Adventure Begins at Nightfall!
"Tales of the Caliphate Nights" is a 256-page campaign setting sourcebook for the True 20 System

"Not Dead Yet"
The newest of the popular "cert shirts" for use while playing Living Arcanis will be available in limited numbers.

Living Arcanis Campaign Cards will be available at the Paradigm Concepts Booth. These are similar to the RPGA reward cards and are usable with any Living Arcanis character.

There is also a large slate of Living Arcanis events at the show!

Hey, Erik - will you still have this around in 9 months time when my subscription comes up for renewal?

(Says Merric, who still hasn't got his first subscriber magazine...)

Cheers!
