Interesting shopping in ancient Netheril.

I'll go ahead and chip in with my praise as well. This stuff is great!! Thanks for posting it and I'd love to see more. These are the kinds of things that are very useful for filling in gaps in a campaign even if it's not set in Netheril.

Thanks and keep up the great work!!

I like the nice touch of buying a few things to remember about a trip. Ironically, some of the stuff would be pretty useful if the group goes back to its own time and tries to convince someone that they are from Netheril. (Might be a good tactic to try on people from the City of Shade.)

Amazing, absolutely amazing. I love this list!!! A good deal of this stuff is going to find its way into a caimpaign i'll be starting for my group in early september. If you have a word document with these in it, could you email it to me? carpdiem@gte.net
I have made a word document from it. Do you want me to send it to you, or have you received it already from Arravis?

Just out of curiosity, have you ever thought of working for Wizards? This kind of creative talent and depth of detail is exactly what any game needs.

Damn... thanks for all the praise guys :).

Anyway, I want to re-state that alot of this stuff is inspired by many sources. Most of the books are nearly direct copies of books from the Talislanta game (just realms-sefied). A few of the items are also inspired from there.

The toughest part ffor me was the clothing. For that I did alot of research on the net for the clothing and just general stuff. I went to alot of sites with roman/greek/early middle-ages stuff in it to try to get a feel for style and culture. I pictured Netheril to be a weird combination between the greeks and the early renaissance styles. Mostly, I tried to get stuff that appealed and had items for both genders :).

Anyway, since alot it is just inspired by other sources, I don't think it's THAT creative. But man... that would be one heck of a dream :).

Very Interesting shopping indeed.

I thought the clothes were an excellent touch. Too oft ignored.

Stuff the in-game benefits, this stuff rocks just because it is cool to have!

Worth 100 times the price just for the stares of the "common" Aristocrats/Nobles of Waterdeep!

Of course you would have to worry about getting it stolen and stuff when you get back and the word got out that you had some of this stuff...

That or some noble woman is going to "accidentally" spill her red wine all over it...

This "shopping" list was for 18th lvl characters :). Does secure it a bit ;).

Anyway, I'm very glad everyone liked it... and I have been giving some thought to putting together a list (without stealing stuff from here and there) and perhaps submitting it to Dragon. Anyone have experience with that? Is this the kind of thing they would go for?

For the clothing, etc.

I wouldn't do too much with in game benefits, with the possible exception of calling it a set of masterwork tools for diplomacy, bluff, innuendo or other appropriate skill use. Maybe even intimidate, if it were the right cut or style....

I like the unseen servant ring. Very nifty. Include also a mending ring with a number of daily charges. The clean cantrip is gone, but that would have made a good necklace as well (and take care of those pesky "red wine" incidents).

You could stack those on an item of clothing, but really it only keeps that item clean and neat. Ring is cooler, works on everything (but takes the covetted spot). In one campaign I made a "robe of the alchemist" which basically was a nice set of robes and a number of daily clean and mending uses, as well as some holding properties. Oh yeah, since all alchemists are absent-minded, it also had some locate object functions (but these only worked on misplaced items by the wearer - it couldn't find anyone ELSES things...."now where did I put that beaker....?")
