Hi All,

I am new here and thought I should take a moment to introduce myself. I am the owner of a Game Publishing company, I do not want to say the name as of yet as I have not made ten posts here and am seriously not looking to spam. We have one title released and are in the process of developing several new titles, both for the tabletop, and games for the PC PS4/XBOX.

Our first release is a Scif Roleplaying game. We have 4 PC games in the works as well as apps for Android.

So here's a question for everyone here, what's your favorite Genre of RPG?

Let me be the first to give you a warm welcome here at ENWorld! It's a great and very acitve community with all manners of people and tastes.

Oh, and try not to make different editions of your games. Edition wars can gedt ... ugly. ;)

Welcome!

I actually don't play regular rpg's on pc. I might play something simple on a smartphone/tablet (android) or action rpg's on pc (path of exile/titan quest/diablo 2).

When it comes to genre, I prefer fantasy for my action rpg's and pen-and-paper games, but when it comes to PC games, I am more inclined to like sci-fi games. Maybe because I am tired of seeing medival towns done badly? I think you have a lot more options with sci-fi games.

An example of a game I really love is Faster than Light. It takes 5 minutes to get into and and tens of hours to master. The replayability of partially random generated content is really important, both for games like that and arpg's like Path of Exile.

Good luck with your game development!

Hi Heddric!
Good to have you here. I'm Michael - part-time roleplayer, part-time writer, full-time forum stalker. I'm currently hanging onto my PS3 for two very good reasons: Skyrim, and Dragon's Dogma. So, I'll be on the late-adopter list for your company's upcoming e-products.

My uncle had an AD&D box adventure in the toy room that I found at the age of 5 or 6. One look at the hex grid map, and I was hooked for life (on fantasy RPGs, not necessarily D&D).

Favorite RPG genre: medieval fantasy.
Favorite commercial RPG: D&D 3.5.
First PC RPG: The Wonderful World of Eamon
Favorite free RPG including aspects of each: TBA soon.

Your company sounds great. What about you?

I played a lot of AD&D, then D&D after Wizards of the Coast bought it. Didn't really care for the new system. I was a real junky for Palladium Books in the early years, but as time progressed, they made each expansion to the system more and more powerful. So if you played something from the original main book, you were always overpowered by stuff from the new books.

The medieval scene in video games is pretty overdone these days. Unless it's really unique, like Skyrim, I am pretty bored with it myself. Our goal is to create games that have expansions that are equally balanced with the original material, while still being new, interesting, and exciting to play.

An example of a game I really love is Faster than Light. It takes 5 minutes to get into and and tens of hours to master.

I have lost DAYS to that game LOL. It amazes me that I have so many games with intense graphics and storylines, yet I play this 2D, crappy drawn game. FTL is SO addictive.

Thanks for the welcome and look forward to talking more!

One of my older brothers played AD&D when I was a kid, and I know that this ages me here, but I w\used to watch the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon back in the 80's LOL. Between those two things, I was hooked. I like fantasy Tabletop games as long as they haven't unbalanced the game in the expansion books. I still think my favorite system (until we developed ours :D) was the Palladium system as long as you exclude Rifts. Each of their games were built on the same system, in different genres. The Rifts game was to tie them all together, but in my mind, it really gummed up the system.

Thanks for the welcome!
