First Post
Ioun Stone of Toughness: These Ioun stones (usually Light Brown in color) possess all the features of a standard ioun stone. Ioun stones of toughness give the benefite of the toughness feat when used.
Caster Level: 5th; Prerequistes: Craft Wondrous Item. the caster must have the toughness feat; Market Price: 9,000 GP; Weight: --.

What do you think? How does it look? Any ideas on how it should work?

Looks about right to me.

The only real issue that I see, is you have to make sure that your players don't think it's cheap way to heal. Remember to take 3 hp off their current total whenever it comes off, even if they're wounded, fully healed, or whatever.

Maybe it would just affect their maximum hp. In other words, it wouldn't actually give them any hit points when they put it on, it just affects their potential maximum.

They would still need to rest, or get a cure spell to reach that potential maximum. Not sure how you rest with a Ioun stone floating around you though. I know there's nothing which forbids it, it just doesn't seem quite right.

Edit: spelling

well I will have it that when its on you gain 3 HP when its off you lose 3 HP very simple.

Thow if some beats up there char then cast despel magic on them well :D .

I think it's okay.
+3 hp when activated, and -3 hp if you ever lose it in any way.
It seems Diablo though (ioun stone of the tiger). :D

Two things.

First off, why aren't you using the modified Toughness variant yet? Everybody knows that +3 hp is paltry. With the variant I have presented multiple times, it's actually +5 hp.

Second, it's slightly too expensive. A basic feat is generally 4000 gp, 8000 gp if no item slot is taken up. As such, this item should cost the same as the one that gives the Alertness feat, which is 8000 gp.

Umm, because the +3 HP version is OFFICIAL?

No offense, but it's not fair to criticize it on that point.

That being said, I agree that +3 HP has always seemed a bit weak, except at first, maybe second level.
