Maybe not be the most original idea, but it sure seems like a fun idea. The rules of the game are quite simple, provide 3 key ingredients for other people to come up with concepts or even fully fleshed out characters with. The ingredients can be almost anything, from simple "must have a longsword" to "had a large family" but must be fairly brief and vague enough to allow some degree of creativity. You must only provide 3 ingredients per post and must wait for two other posts before posting again. Multiple people can come up with character ideas for the same ingredients and are encouraged to.
The idea of the game is to get the creative juices flowing, inspire each other and most importantly to have fun.
Obviously this is going to better suited towards D&D but I can't see a reason for not including other roleplaying games in the fun.
I guess I will lead by example.....
1: The character has a passion for Swineball (a variation of rugby popular amongst dwarves and orcs.)
2: The character must be unusually tall.
3: The character must be fluent in a number of unusual languages.
