Everyone who can do a 6:30 pm EST start time tonight (or later) check in and say so and when I get home from work I'll pair off who ever is available.

So far the possibilities are:

MacBeth
...
Just wanted to confirm that I'm ready. I still have one more class today, so I may not post until this evening, but I'm ready any time tonight.

i am availible tonight anytime or during the day tomorrow anytime... consider me the most flexible. please just PM me on NKL to tell me the time

I will be checking in at 6:30.

By the way, I hate having to double confirm. Sometimes I confirm, knowing I won't have computer access for a bit, but confident I can check in and respond before the deadline. Not a problem in this case, but for the record, once I say I'm good to go, count me as ready.

An odd question, as a first-timer: is a literal interpretation of the ingredients necessary?

For instance, if the ingredient was "A Snake", obviously an actual serpent of some sort would be valid. Would any of the following be valid/appropriate?

1) A rod of the serpent
2) A rather sneaky, sleazy, NE Rogue (i.e. the slang definition of a "snake")
3) A man who, sleazy or not, has acquired the nickname "Snake" (for some explained reason).

Thoughts?

Ingredient Re-Interpretation is part of the game and clever thinking can often make the difference between winning and losing - but don't be too clever, if you get my drift.

The wilder the interpretation is the less likely it will be to please the judge.

Format

Nemme

Would it be possible to direct us (me) to a favorable submission format that you prefer? I've read a lot of the older Iron DM's and they come in all differents types and I know you are somewhat particular about what you want, so I was wondering if there was a certain one in past time that smote you with it's greatness....or something....???

So we have ready to go tonight. . .

Wulf Ratbane
Tlielaxu
LazarusLong
MacBeth
CarpeDavid
and
Noskov.

Okay. . .

Gonna do Wulf vs. Lazarus at 6:30ish

and

MacBeth vs. CarpeDavid at 10 pm

The others will have to wait until tomorrow sometime to begin.

Sound good?

Ok.

As for "double check-in" - I try to avoid that. If someone says "I will definitely check at X time, go ahead and post the ingredients" then it is on them to be there on time - but a lot of times people post hedging answers, "I could" or "I should", etc. . . etc. . and in those cases I like to double-check.

Look for the Ingredients to post for the first Round First Match-Up - Wulf Ratbane vs. LazarusLong in the Tournament Thread itself just after 6:30 PM est.

Just be clear.

Format is up to you.

Remember to include a litle "review of ingredients" at the end.

Damn, missed out again. Well, if you need an alternate, you know where to find one...

One thing though - next time would it be possible for sign-up time to be announced a day or two in advance? Doing things that way (like was done in the last Iron DM) at least gives us non-US-timezone denizens a bit or warning about exactly which night we need to stay up until 2am to sign up.

Mind you, my internet connection was a bit wonky yesterday, and it's possible I missed an announcement if there was one. If this was the case, please feel free to treat this post with the mockery it deserves...

Which I take to mean, don't be more clever than the judge. Not that there is any chance of that with nemmerle, may he forever be exalted.

On the other hand, certain judges have been known to penalize contestants who did not stick to the literal textbook definition of an ingredient.
