Iron Lore ... can't wait ... Any playtesters here?

Just trolling for inside info.
I know Monte is doing a dandy job of promo material at his site, but I'm in a creative slump right now and anxious to get my hands on the product.

I do so hope it allows for a satisfactory rapier duelist character concept...

Seriously. My entire playgroup is chomping at the bit for Iron Lore to come out; very few people in this group are fond of D&D's complicated -- and let's face it, eventually unbalancing -- magic system, but they love miniatures combat, swashbuckling stunts, and heroic adventure. I'm halfway considering picking up the new edition of the Warhammer RPG just to tide us over.

Yes, I was a playtester. Unfortuately, due to NDA concerns, I cannot get into specifics until Iron Lore is released.

Absolutely....with enough choices that you can do all sorts of duelist concepts so that you simulate different styles or schools. Any more than that I cannot say at this time....

No specifics but how well does it rate against say normal D&D, arcana Evolved, and other d20 systems?

I'm also totally hyped over IL and would have loved to have playtested it. If the 1st ed Duelist (y'know, the single combat, quasi-assassin version) can be modelled in IL, the anticipation level has just gone up yet another notch. That's my all-time favorite D&D class.

You can get the occasional tidbit of info on Monte's Iron Lore board but there's probably not a whole lot we can glean outside the occasional design diary...

Black Moria - how would rate the overall high level play-balance in IL vs D&D / AU[AE]? Fun factor? Do rounds of combat take much longer to aducate in IL with all the stunts, damage reduction and combat options? Is it fun or can it get a little tedious? Are there good options for player rewards with magic items taken out of the picture? I know you can't get into specifics, but your general impressions would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

Iron Lore set outs to be a high action fantasy game where equipment matters far less than character abilities.

If that's something you're interested in, you're gonna love it - because it achieves that goal really, really well. :)
