Iron man 2 (no spoilers)

Well, you have to take into account who they are on screan with. Downey Jr., Chealde, Jackson and Roarke have all earned Academy Award nominations and Paltrow has won an Academy Award. Johanson and Rockwell just aren't in that same league.

Rockwell is a very good actor. He was brilliant in Moon. Jackson has lately just been playing Samuel L 'F___ing Snakes on a Plane' Jackson.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to vacate the donut!"

Saw it last night and thought the dialogue was wonderful, full of great lines. Liked the action sequences and the plot, and if Hammer is that annoying in the comics I don't know how he gets through an issue without someone punching him (I thought Pepper Potts was going to take a swing at him at the end).

Great stuff. Enjoyed the post-credits teaser, too:

Agent Coulson finds Mjolnir in the New Mexico desert

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first one, which had, I felt, a better relationship and dialog with Pepper. Did she get any good lines?

Black Widow was OK but nothing special.

I liked Fury, didn't like the resolution of the final fight very much.

First one was better, yes. But the second is well worth seeing, IMHO. :)

The bodyguard was fun... "I got one, I got one!" (he didn't actually say it that way)

I enjoyed it. The first one was better yes, but I think a lot of that was because it caught everyone off guard with how great it was. This one had a lot more to live up to.

And for me and pretty much everyone I saw it with, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer made this film.

Saw it a coule of weeks ago. Enjoyed it immensely. Not as good as the first movie, but better than 90% of superhero movies out there.

I'd heard that they kept mentioning New Mexico, and I rather thought that was setting up the Avengers movie to use the plotline of Ultimates v1.

But that was good. I did ask myself
based on current Marvel continuity, shouldn't that be in Oklahoma, though? That's where Mjolnir landed right before Civil War.

I liked the movie a lot. The end fight was over just a touch too quick, I thought, but on the whole it was pretty good.

The quibbles I had are below:

1)
The fancy new element being encoded in the 1974 Stark Expo layout seems a bit too, well, Dan Brown-like.

2)
One would think that Tony is the kind of guy who'd already have a particle accelerator in his basement, as opposed to having to jury-rig one. Well, maybe not. Reed Richards would, though.

I saw it last night with my daughters. We really enjoyed it. Favreau has made two, damn-good summer blockbusters that are fun. Both Iron Man movies just have me grinning while I watch them. Part of that is due to some sharp writing and Favreau's deft touch that keeps things movies, but I think the biggest source of enjoyment in these movies is Robert Downey Jr. He has mountains of charisma and could probably make a phone book reading entertaining. Without him, I think the movies would still be good, but not the very enjoyable movies that they are.

I saw it in IMAX earlier this morning. I enjoyed it, though I agree the end battle could have lasted a bit longer.

Sam Rockwell was great,
as was Gary Shandling. I didn't know he was in it, even as a bit part, but he stole the scenes he was in, especially the ending. And of course the throw away line where Stark confuses Stan Lee with Larry King.

Scarlet Johanson's role was a good addition, and fit in to the plot more that just eye candy.

Yet again, Robert Downey Jr proves that he was born to play Tony Stark.
