Iron Man

Anyways, even though I hate Iron Man (at least the current post Civil-War Marvel comics version), I can't wait to see this movie.
Which is why I haven't read comic books since the mid-90's.

The big bearded guy is Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges), not the Mandarin. It would be cool if the Mandarin is in this (unless they decide for some strange reason to make him not Chinese), but everything I've seen or read points to the villain being Stane.

(I'm curious about that Favreau Myspace comment- it comes from 2006, so may be out of date, but then again, maybe not.)

[EDIT- Hm. Looking around a bit, looks like he's made that announcement more than once, so that's cool. Sounds like they may be building him up to be more than just the first film's villain. Still not seeing the rings in the trailer, though.)
Iron-Monger(Obadiah Stane) is definitely the main focus we've been shown so far in the trailers and the bits of information that's been released so far. Mandarin keeps getting hinted at and then not and then hinted at and not. Its very very hard to say one way or another what's happening on that end of things, but that short moment in the trailer seems to hint that we get at least SOMETHING.

And yeah, this movie looks to show why Iron Man is such a great character. I don't hate what's happened to him in the current comics(he at least gets written well in a couple ongoings these days), but it'll be nice to see Tony as an actual hero again without much to question it.

EDIT: Oh, and on the ring sighting...what I'm seeing is in the "Tony Stark, now you work for me" line. The guy is rubbing his hand and you can see at least one ring, if not maybe more, on one of his fingers. Cryptic, and could just be coincidence...but who knows.

This is a quote from Wiki but it seems to sum it up well:

"At the 2007 Comic-Con, Iron Man director Jon Favreau said the Mandarin's presence in the story of the upcoming film would be felt, but probably not be seen, rather like Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, with the central villain being Iron Monger."

Well the scoop was a bust. ^%&* I was hoping for some Mandarin, but if he's strongly hinted at and the movie does well they'll probably bring him in on the sequel.

"Let's be honest. This is not the worst thing you've caught me doing..."
I'm not usually a big Robert Downy Jr. fan, but man he can pull off lines like that better than anyone else ;)

Well, I do prefer smart villains who are savvy enough to keep a low profile and work in the background. Makes the heroes have to dig deep as to who is the mastermind.

Wow i can't wait for this movie. What I am most interested in in this movie are the small and subtle tie-ins it will have with Incredible Hulk when that comes out in June.

Ironman is looking to be the blockbuster of this summer. Can't wait.

A bit of Hellboy, Batman and Hulk to get me going.... looks to be a good summer.
