Iron Master's The Raiders of Galath's Roost [IC]

"Thank you, wise cleric. And unfortunately I am told my slinging abilities are better than my cooking, and I doubt if my ladle would have saved me just now," says Liksa. "I... do we.. should we dig the body out?" she says, pointing to the skeletal arm.

"Well, normally I'm not for disturbing the rest of the dead, but this fellow looks to have already been disturbed. If we are in no hurry, perhaps we should examine these bones and rebury them.

[OOC: Does it look like these bones are in a grave? Or just buried under a pile of dirt?]

Sparrowhawk peers over at the protruding arm, then walks about the area a bit. "Not just one, but many. Shallow, which explains the krenshars." Bending over he examines what appears to be another protruding body part a few yards away, in the grass. Without a further word, he begins excavating the corpse. His face expresses a mixture of anger and stalwart resignation.

Stor growls out his response, "it is no proper way for a man to lie when he is dead. The body of those who have fallen should be treated with respect and given proper passage to the Fields." The sight obviously upsets the large northerner.

Kelwan nods at Stor, and examines the corpse that Sparrowhawk is excavating, "Agreed, and if these are part of the fallen militia company, once we have explored these ruins, we should take word back to Ashabenford so that their families can properly bury them. I am also concerned about those vultures, I'm thinking that there may be more corpses that aren't even buried as well as these that we should attend to."

[OOC: Are we able to determine what race these bones are?]

The bodies are human, and a little exploration in the immediate vincinity reveals four of them. One appears female. The remains appear to have been stripped of equipment before being hastily buried. Kelwan can determine that the bodies are about a week old. Animals have nourished themselves on what they could get at. Liksa and Sparrowhawk can determine that their are signs of a struggle, and tracks from humans, felines, and horses, all of which are very faint, thanks to their age.

Little enough flesh remains on the bones that animals will be attracted at this point. A full excavation of the bodies will take an hour if anyone has a shovel, two hours with makeshift equipment. Full daylight will occur in about an hour. Given the time of year, less than half a day of full daylight can be expected.

Liksa, Halfling Rogue

"S-s-shall we proceed? We are not bringing i-it along, a-are we?" says Liksa, still queasy from her encounter with the bones.

Shaking his head, the wizard replies, "No Liksa." Sparrowhawk looks up from his task. "We can't take them back now. What we can do is take them from the earth, cover them with that." He nods in the direction of the brush and fallen branches around the heixel tree, from which the krenshars emerged. "It will keep most creatures away, and serve to mark the spot for those who come for them. We can send word for the Riders of Mistledale to take them home."

Barring any objections, he spends the next two hours uncovering the remains, and dragging brush over the bodies. He keeps an eye out for anything that might be of interest, and an ear out for trouble.
