As soon as I saw that Con was a prime ability for Infernal warlocks I have been waiting to see the posts for the inevitable armies of dwarven arcane casters that will no doubt be flooding the genre. I think this decision on the part of WotC was a step in the wrong direction as far as flavor goes, but that is just my opinion.

Anyhoo, ya, only flaw I can tell is that you don't take damage from being forced to move, only movement made by the affected character during their move on their turn. I can't quote a page number for this though...

For the record, not a fan of the Dwarlock.

Maybe it ISN'T accidental that the dwarves keep delving too deep . . .

How can you ascribe "flavour" to a generic system?

The implied setting already indicates that dwarves don't have too many arcanists. But that's not *none*.

Dwarves would make good warlocks, if Dwarves in your setting are the kind to make pacts with greater powers for their own personal gain. Most settings don't take that kind of thing with dwarves.

Anyway.. I like the combo, but as indicated, forced movement won't trigger abilities.

Actually, all of this except the Howl of Doom comes from the Blood Mage paragon path, and Thunderlance is better than Howl of Doom as the follow-up attack (same damage, but blast 5 instead of blast 3), so you can just do this as a straight wizard.

Also, an implement would add a decent amount more damage. Assuming a magic wand +4 at level 16, you'd get +4 damage for Blood Pulse, +4 for Howl of Doom/Thunderlance, and possibly more when Blood Pulse does damage due to movement (does the extra 6d6 count as one of the "damage rolls of any of your powers ... that have the implement keyword"? Does it count as 6 damage rolls?).

A few points:
1. Does burning blood just automatically happen when you second wind? Or is it an action that you do instead of second wind?

Looks like it's something you get in addition to the normal benefits of a second wind.

2. I was under the impression that involuntary movement generally doesn't trigger "on movement" effects

The RAW in the section on forced movement specifically state that it does not provoke "Opportunity Actions." Opportunity Actions are simply those you may take in response to the actions of combatants and you get one per combatant per turn.

So, unless there's another bit of rules verbiage hidden somewhere in the book, it seems legit to me.

Fair enough. I guess my next question is this: How many hitpoints does this guy have?

I think he's got around a hundred. So he's spending a daily(right?), an action point, a healing surge.. and what else? Another daily?

And he ends up maybe taking himself down. How tough are monsters of this level exactly? What sort of damage is an equal level rogue pulling off?

I don't know about Rogue, but I happen to have a Ranger/Pit Fighter 20 right here. When he spends an action point, and then uses his "Attacks on the Run" level 9 daily, he deals 60-114 damage (60-126 if bugbear or minotaur) to a single target. Then he gets his regular action. Add hunter's quarry (2d8).

Obviously, rangers are not AoE specialist, but just for comparison, Spray of Arrows, level 9 daily, is 2[W]+Dex, so something like 20 or 25 damage, plus hunter's quarry. Certainly not anywhere close.

Edit: I should add that I suspect these numbers are nearly 2x what you would get as a rogue or warlock.
