(IRR) Turn 1: The Emerald Contest

The two duelists, finally meeting one another on that last battle. The final stage to earn the rights to take the duties of emerald champion onto your shoulders. The emotions they have, the judges are sure, are stronger than any they have ever had. Those few people who you can call spectators are ready to watch. Ready to...

During only a second, two feudal lords stand face to face, ready to determine not just a battle as those fights before, but the fate of an entire world. An era has come, only recently hinted towards, that strikes fear into the eyes of some, and awe into that of everyone. Would the Empire stand up to a world where Samurai and Shugenja were put on equal grounds with the devices of theory? It seems that despite the futures unknowns, it will still be decided with katana and skill as in ages past.

The noon sun floats over the contest, yet the moon can faintly be seen in the sky, off in the distance, as if it would linger to see what is going to happen. Somewhere in between the light of a new day, and the darkness of a setting moon, the two finalists will have their match.

The judges, without any difficulty, are able to declare the victor. The victor who seems to have been uneasy, but the sudden change in the mind and attitude created by that last duel have set this duelist against an opponent who expected something entirely different.

The Victor is Xieng Chi, representing the Unicorn Clan. The line drawn on the exact day, one year from the unforseen death of the Emporer. The constant distractions have finally been mended, and history is starting to take shape.

Xieng Chi, immediately after your duel you are greeted by a man being pursued by an incredible group of warriors and mages. He stands before you, the Anvil, a wanted man in some territories, and simply unknown in others. He looks upon you, and in this moment of your victory he states, "So, it would be you that claimed you could best me? That's odd, my sources said it would be another who stood before me here. So now, are you going to try and kill me or not?"

The Anvil's taunt is boastful, and the group of guards pursuing him have stopped in their tracts. The Anvil, a child of the dead Emporer, stands before you on the exact day of his father's death with a challenge. The sun is high still, the day is nearly over but naught...

OOC: Excellent post Lichtenhart. I think you have earned this, after your tribulations with this contest. I'm going to open Turn 2 with the conclusions of this, so your welcome to take your time to think about what your going to do about it.

Xieng Chi kneels properly before the son of the Emperor.

"Hantei-sama" she says very calmly as she stands up "I'm afraid you have been misinformed. I came here to serve the Empire, and I never offended or challenged you. I'm sure I could never stand before one who bears Toturi's blood. I ask you to let me know who told you such a lie, so that I could face him and explain him what a Unicorn thinks about lies. Then, if you have time for me, I'd like to talk with you about an important and delicate matter."

OOC: CS, the Anvil is Hantei Naseru, the courtier-type of the heirs. Such a taunt seems rather unlike him. Do you really meant him to do this?

{OOC: Aha! So there the little coward fled! Euhm.. Oops.. did I say fled? Not from me and my evil *cough* lawful good druid circle!. Good Mantis always helps! :rolleys:}

The Anvil Reveiled?

OOC: Can we assume that other charactersstill at the contest know about the presence of the Anvil? What about characters not present?

Everyone who could have an agent of some kind there, has undoubtedly sent a message at this very instant. PCs that are there can react immediately of course.

(Yes, I definitely meant for him to do this.)

"I am caught unaware. I was informed that, 'undoubtedly the winner of this contest will seek your blade to quench his thirst.' And, if you are not that individual, then who here requested their own execution?"

Reports reached Isawa Akahita. Apparently, Hantei Naseru, the Anvil appeared at the Test of the Emerald Champion, and in a strange mood.

"Why now? Why did he return now, and what does he want? Is he really tainted, or is he free? Is he controlled in some fashion? We need to find this out. If only the research was already finished, it might help."

"We need to determine if Hantei Naseru is tainted in any way, and if he is, appeal to him to undergo a cure. Under no circumstances shall he be harmed."

Akahita will teleport to the tournament along with Temuro, maintaining a respectable distance.

Ide Tadaji, Master Diplomat of the Unicorn Clan, steps forward.
"Hantei-sama, excuse my assumption, but did you receive an unsigned letter in colored paper, informing you of this threat?"

(hold on, this was going to be the opener of turn 2. I'm delaying any of my reactions to anything till after the lists are updated. I was able to finish about 50 entries today. It'll be a while before the rest get done, and I report on template actions.)
