(IRR) Turn 1: The Emerald Contest

Shiba Tsukune was worried after her conversation with the man who called himself Togashi Samanosuke. She knew more about him than most other contestants, but she realized that it was virtually nothing.

Should she have told the judges what she knew? No. Samanosuke had perfect papers, and acussing him would incur the wrath of the Dragon, and misunderstanding of the other clans. There were other ways to deal with him though.

But these had to wait. Her first duel was assigned to be against Kitsune Wiljia.

Wandering around on the fields, she finally meets Kitsune Wiljia. "Wiljia-san, I am honored to meet you, and to compare our skills in the Test of the Emerald champion. May your ancestors smile upon you on this important day."

Uda Hiyone smirks and takes the small cask of sake at his side and takes a swill before approaching, trying to take the edge off the afternoon. He saunters up and bows roughly, his straw, conical hat staying place hiding his eyes, the mon of the Monkey emblazoned on the breast of his kimono.

"Good afternoon, the Ancestors be pleased, but the day seems good for a Test of the Emerald Champion eh? Perhaps the Fortunes will bless us with the distinction of winning," he smirks, "Or perhaps the Fortunes will bless me with the luck to duel this beauty before me..." he says to Shiba Tsukune...

Hiyone laughs out loud for a moment and then offers his cask to the two contestants...

"Perhaps a drink among friends, for luck, I suppose, as if the Champions of the Great houses need such luck, but I, of the Monkey, we rely on luck... I must say that Luck is one of our better skills...." Hiyone smirks, "I am Uda Hiyone, Champion of the Monkey, and I am honored to be on the field of contest with you two fine souls..."

With a slight smile, Shiba Tsukune greets the participant of the Monkey Clan.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Hiyone-san. I it indeed a fine day, and Lord Sun deems the Test worthy of his special attention."

"I thank you for your kind offer, Hiyone-san, but I am afraid that I cannot accept. I need other forms of preparation on occasions like this. I wish you all the luck that the Fortunes can give you for the contest."

Hiyone bows respectfully...

"You honor me with such kind words... I fear that if you are my competition, then my chances of victory are slim, but I shall strive to make it at least sporting."

Kitsune Wilja smiles and bows to the other two contestants and accepts Hiyone's offer of sake.

" I am honoured you consider me worthy of sharing your repast. It is a pleasure to see another of the Minor Clans here. For despite our limited resources we must serve as best we can. May the Fortunes smile on you both. "

Hiyone chuckles, and closes the cask as Wilja finishes...

"Think nothing of it... and I would wish you good luck, but from the looks of it, you are more then prepared for the trials of today's events..."

OOC: Grrr... my browser just went kaboom while I was typing my IC post...
It'll come later.
Are you going to post the legal scores openly?
Have I suffered penalties to my legal score already? (due to late entry into the Jade contest? I shouldn't have for the Emerald contest)

Legal scores will not play a deep part in the elimination round. The elimination round is to gut the fighters with a lack of skill out of the tournament, more or less. We will probably be left with 4-6 fighters of the nine, and thier legal scores will then be added to every post. The only player who I will reveal the legal score of is my own, (2 of ?). I did have your legal scores correct, just so you know, and you did not recieve any modifiers for being late on either character (because you were as quick as you could be to enter, which is good enough for me).

Now... please note that when we go to the next round, every family will be forced to provide deep information on your characters participating. So, you must come up with the history for your characters (or look it up if they are official) and post it as your legal papers on background, once we get to that step. The quality of this will affect your legal score. I, personally, think that it is intriguing that the more fighters you announced, the more effort your clan must put into making sure your legal specifications are exact...

"Good morning Togashi Samanosuke-san, I trust you are well. I hope I can give you a worthy challenge in our upcoming duel," he says respectfully, pausing for moment so he knows no-one is listening, "There is an air of mystery about you it seems, I respect that, often things need to be tucked away from sight to maintain normality and tradition."

"I will not bid you good fortune this day," he says with a sly smile, "because I am certain you won't need it to have a good chance."
"Good ending Akira-san. Sadly, one of us must defeat the other... and because of these stipulations we won't be able to fight again. Mayhaps we will meet again, so that we could pursue further testing of our skills... afterall who would be more fitting to compete against each other than me and you? We have ties that bind us more-so than most of the other competitors here."

"Ah yes, Akira-San, my chances are quite good..."

"Uda Hiyone San, I am Matsu Nimuro and I have been honoured to be chosen to duel you in the contest." Nimuro bows stiffly with a slight ironic smile on his lips. "I am certain you will live up to your reputed skill.
Soon we will stand as adversaries against each others, praying to the kami to bless us to the detriment of the other, but for now I greet you as a friend and offer you a toast of sake to the honour of this fine day and these great men and women gathered here today."

Hiyone bows, "I pray not to the fortunes for any detriment, I pray that the Fortunes bless me with the charms to bedazzle the ladies, and to drink the finest sake the Emerald Empire has to offer. Beyond that, I have little else to pray for, I have faith in my abilities."

Hiyone smirks, "Matsu Nimuro-sama, it will be an honor when the time comes for us..."
