Is 3.x Your Favorite Version of D&D?

I would love to go back to the meld of AD&D and 2E that I played for many years.

Conceptually, I like the feats and skills of 3.x, but I find the game gets bogged down with too many rules. Combat is oftem tedious instead of exciting, and creating a 10th level character takes me a couple of hours versus 30 minutes.

I have True20 on order at my FLGS, I am hoping it will be the answer to my frustration.

I sincerely hesitated to vote "No" because I like OD&D and AD&D 1E just as much, but in the end I voted yes, because while I can run games that feel like OD&D or AD&D with 3.X, the reverse simply isn't true.

Very good point. I have run several cmapigns with very different flavour in 3.x. Basic and 2e were not a toolbox like 3e is (I haven't played any other editions).

I have also had the most fun playing in 3e, because I like the advancement (the "bennies every level") better than the more static advancement of previous edition, and a good DM can portray cool NPCs and good storylines in either edition.

Third edition is, without a doubt, the absolute best version of DnD.

Absolutely. I've never read anything before 2nd edition, but 2nd edition has to be the worst-written RPG I've ever seen. The rules are scattered around the books, they're inconsistant, and they're nonsensical. Making matters worse, they're often written in this bizzare style with odd grammar and word choices that makes it just hard to read.

Wotc's Editions have the best ruleset. I beg to differ with many play assumptions, but the rules are nice and solid.

Yes, D&D v3.5 is the best edition of D&D yet published. There is no way in Hell that I'll ever play any previous editions ever again.
