I answered "No," but perhaps that's not entirely true, since I disliked 3.0 so much that I haven't so much as looked at 3.5.

Not my favourite. That distinction goes to the Rules Cyclopedia.

Heh, I wonder what the numbers would be if you posted this poll on a site that wasn't dedicated to d20? :) ...

I'm surprised that it's only 81 percent 'yes' here.

I think it's funny that the majority of posts who say "no" don't just not really like the new edition, it places near the aboslute BOTTOM of their list, if not at it.

"Not only is it not the best, it is the WORST!"

The extreme divide is kind of fascinating. And it seems to hinge, so far, on ephemeral things, like feel and empowerment, not concrete things like ruleset.

Could still use some more tweaking but I think it far surpasses earlier editions in terms of letting players make the types of characters they want.

Much as I dislike 4E, I can't help but feel that these poll numbers would be different if it was started recently instead of years ago. Oh well. 3.x E love, yay!

D&D 3.5 is the best edition there is...for crunch.

For fluff, nothing tops the halcyon days of 2E.

Except I wasn't a fan of the fluff.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of it was high quality fluff, but fluff by its very nature is subjective. I'll take solid rules any day of the week over fluff. I can put my own flavor on top.
