Is Being a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Fan Necessary to Fit in with a D&D Group?

I know what you're talking about with your experiences with gaming groups, and I'm in that situation all the time, but luckily, not with my gamer friends. they all tend to like philosophy, music, history, literature, etc. but I guess I'm just lucky :)
