Is Complete Warrior in OGL and in the SRD?

AFAIK, none of CW (or any of the 'Complete' splattbooks) is in the SRD.

Besides the three core books, the only books whose material has been added to the SRD to my knowledge are:

Unearthed Arcana
Dieties and Demigods
Manual ot the Planes
Epic Level Handbook

Actualy, of those four, only material from the Epic Level Handbook is in the SRD. None of Unearthed Arcana is in the SRD (and there have been several walloping threads on this board over whether a UA SRD can be made or not). However, Unearthed Arcana is mostly open gaming content, and those portions are covered by the OGL.

I can't say anything about Deities & Demigods of Manual of the Planes. I know that material from neither appears in the SRD. I'm pretty sure Deities & Demigods is completely closed content; I'm not so sure about Manual of the Planes, but I believe it is closed as well (note: the SRD does contain a "Planes" chapter that is an overview of the basic D&D planar cosmology. I believe the same material appears in the Dungeon Master's Guide, and does not come from Manual of the Planes).

To answer your first question, Louis: no new material from Complete Warrior has been added to the SRD. Whether material in CW is open content or not is a question answerable only by someone who owns the book, and thus beyond my capacity.

Hope that helps.

CW doesn't have anything in the SRD at this time. I don't think anything from the planes book have made it in, but I do know that some of the stuff from Deities and Demigods did make it into the SRD, unless the divine stuff in the SRD is from another source.

I would say definitely not ... I usually just assume that if it's not in the PHB, the DMG, or the Monster Manual, then it's not open content. Not everything in those is SRD either (for example, the beholder and illithid are NOT in the SRD, or any named spells, like the various Bigby and Mordenkainen spells). But the SRD is basically just designed, IIRC, to allow people to print books that are compatible with the core rules.

Oh, you'rr basically right, . Hasn't some basic 'Dieties' info been added to the SRD as well? Perhaps its technically not form D&Dg, but didn't they include some open content to allow publishers to better build their own gods using the WotC format? Of course, all Greyhawk deities and WtoC version of common dieties are closed content.

I can understand that certain fans don't understand how the whole OGL/OGC and SRD thing works, but from publishers, especially publishers that have produced so many OGL products.

Books like the Complete Warrior or the Epic Handbook are not released under the OGL and as such don't have any OGC. Just because the SRD holds similar material doesn't mean you can use material that's not in the SRD, and material shouldn't be referenced in the way as described below. Other books such as Unearthed Arcana are released under the OGL and as such contain OGC, they are NOT part of the SRD, although the SRD is released under the OGL and contains OGC.

The 'proper' way to ask would be along the lines, "Does the Complete Warrior OGC?", "Is the Complete Warrior released under the OGL?". Something a little more 'dangerous', "Has material from the Complete Warrior been added to the SRD?" (but by being added to the SRD the material no longer comes from the Complete Warrior, but is now part of the SRD). There might be no distiction for most fans, but folks that use OGC from sources other then the SRD this is important because we might perpetuate the mistakes others made.

I'm not saying i'm perfect in my use of the OGL, but i try, i'm just pointing out that it might be usefull if a bit clearer language was used.

Probably the easiest way to get an asnwer to this question was to..err.... look at the SRD. ;)
