Is Empire of Izmer the POL? - thread necro

What I'd like to see is, perhaps, some mid-budget animated features on SciFi. SciFi hasn't yet really dabbled much in making animated features, but I think with outsourcing the art to Korea and the like it might be cheaper, for big FX type things like this, to go that route.

To bring it on topic ...

Animated Features Set In PoL For 4E!

I think this is the way to go. D&D The Animated Movie.

Izmer as described in the Second D&D movie would work though...

Actually, the Second movie is mildly entertaining and enough to make you forget the First one. Worth a Netflix, IMHO.

Izmer felt kind of close to BD&D Glantri.

The movie was a PoS, Izmer itself was an alright set up for a high end Kingdom of Magic.

Had they never left the city, and just explored it's under sewers, the movie would have been far better.

I actually remember hearing at the time of the movie that Izmer was loosely based on the Empire of Alphatia from the Mystara setting rather than Glantri. And you're right - it would have been better if they'd done that. In fact, it's hard to think of a change they could make to the movie that WOULDN'T have made it better.

And to the OP: I really, really, really doubt that Wizards would want to make the setting of a failed movie (one they really probably want to forget ever happened) into the default setting of their flagship RPG product - that would be ... odd.

Is there any truth that the Empire of Izmer is to be the setting for this Points of Light generic campaign WOTC is setting up?

Ha, ha, ha... oh gods! I hope not.

Thrown stones to distract a servile beholder sentry... hah...oh, ahh... can't see through the tears.

Where did you hear that? First I've heard of this rumor.

Read it over the weekend and initially didn't believe it myself, decided to go back and reread it only to be still looking for it, but I created this thread to double check in case its actually valid.

What i read said there was a rumour that this was the intended POL but from what I do recall there was never more than that first message and I'm still checking for it.

PS: Any details on Izmer try yahoo groups and use the Dungeons and Dragons the Movie as the title of the group, it hs the links you're looking for and pics of the movies.

The joke

... Y'know, I never even saw any of the Izmer stuff on the Wizards website.
Does anybody have some links? It would be amusing to see.
I think Izmer was a HORRIBLE setting for the movie. And the movie itself was so amazingly bad I had a minor schism after watching it. I sat there laughing for 10 minutes and couldn't stop.
Though, because of that, I count it among the best comedies of that year. But you have to watch it to the end to really get the joke.
The setting itself was dreadful, though. I'm surprised that they were actually working on anything to release for that. It just doesn't mesh with the core game enough to translate well. This I've got to see.

Try watching the movie on you tube they have a d&d group running through the adventure and the best bit is when they meet the beholder guard!
Try it I assure you it has some even more hysterically funny bits including the Crystal Maze and explains why Damodar has blue lips...

Very brief update

Still looking perhaps if you hear news of what the point of light they mentioned in design and development you might want to sue this thread to pass on the news unless you actually have a name for this potential generic campaign.
