IS Gary Gygax's World Builder Hardcover any good?

Re: this is going to seem like a very blatant plug

But,

per some criticisms of the World Builder's Guide lack of guides for how to use the infoormation contained in the book....

I decided a few weeks ago to start an article series in troll lord games little in house web-magazine called The Seeker.

This is really an on-the-fly series of articles as it was only decided in responce to people need to get some direction on using the WB.

The Seeker is Free, its a PDF web pub. The articles are short, a little tongue in cheek, but does offer advice as I see it is needed and it should be solid. My hope is that others start to contribut ideas and thoughts so I can start putting them in the Seeker also. Ideas and thoughts that are better thought out and presented than mine would be nice.

We could also start a world builder discussion forum on our discussion or you guys could start one here.

Just trying to help.

Davis
Thank you Davis. That is real customer service! This gets a solid thumbs up from me! :)

In honour of this I might actually have to get the book and try to contribute to the discussion. This aspect of world design and adventure creation isn't always well addressed anywhere in roleplaying, and it is certainly the one where people have widely different experiences. Consequently its the one where sharing ideas can produce large benefits.

Seeker

OK

we just put out the latest Seeker (it is free). As I mentioned earlier, I started a world building column. It is found on page 5.

As this was a responce to people's desires to get a little more info. it is sorta iffy right now. As the next few weeks move on I will have a better idea about how I want to approach and discuss this topic specifically in reference to Gary's book.

Any comments/commentary are more than welcome.

Davis,

I must confess to being mildly disgruntled after perusing THE SEEKER #3.

I was expecting a call to add more material for a new edition of the WORLD BUILDER, and instead you have nothing but advice as to how to employ it. Such hand-holding is mere coddling, and who needs that?

Of course I also object to the 10% likelihood you allowed for a "high fantasy" (Nancy-boy) campaign. If it isn't Swords & Sorcery, is it even worth playing?!

So next issue I expect to see an urgent call for things Dan Cross and I inadvertantly ommited from the book.

:D

Gary

He's a Troll, Gary. Lord or not, he's a troll.

He doesn't seek advice... he eats it. Preferably with billy-goats.

:D

Cheers!

And John Troy has dutifully noted that no listing for "peanut" is anywhere to be found in the manuscript. Now how can PCs tame elephants without those?

Gary

Of course not!

Somthing came up two nights ago that I am hopeing World Builder might cover.

Does World Builder cover the cost of RENTING a horse mule or pony?

Thanks.

My decision to buy may be based on the answer.

Aaron.
